Worst Umpire in the History of Umpiring at it Again

How in the world does this asshole keep his job?

He is dog shit. And I say this after a call he made on Bryce Harper. I am not a Harper fan. In fact, I root against Bryce Harper, but Angel Hernandez is so bad at umpiring I am siding with Harper.

Hernandez thinks it is “racism” that everyone is against him. But MLB has instituted digital metrics and Angel Hernandez is, indeed, the worst umpire.

Look at this ridiculousness-

The guy is absolute garbage truck juice, yet, he still has his job.

  1. Benefit of replay makes it appear that it was a bad call. Though the umpire behind the plate couldn’t tell, I would think that the third base umpire would have been able to tell, IF he had been paying attention. If he hadn’t, then benefit goes to the batter.

  2. The traditional definition is if the batter’s wrists “broke,” which they clearly did not in this case. That being said, I have also read that that is not the real definition. Even if that is not the be all and end all, it would certainly go towards deciding whether he swung or not.

The bat barely came over the plate if it came over at all. If that was not a check swing then there is no such thing as a check swing.

A few years ago, Hernandez was passed over for a post season assignment. He sued claiming it because of — you guessed it — racism.

Major League Baseball would probably be thrilled if Hernandez were to retire tomorrow. In the meantime the league has to deal with the union.

  3. He’s a Latiiiinnnooooo! He has that race card at the ready when they fire him. He’s already said he’s been discriminated against in the past because of his race.

See what happens when you choose diversity over competence?

  4. Must have been the same guy who decided to delay last night’s Mets/Marlins game with two outs & two on – top of the 9th at Citifield. Keith Hernandez, Ron Darling and Gary Cohen were calling the game when the umpire decided to call in the Grounds Crew to tarp the field.

  5. Sadly (but statistically proven) most of the bad umpires are of color – Hernandez was bad from the start and is known as a grudge holder and this was his (at least) third run up of Harper.

Btw Harper threw his batting helmet into the stands (to a kid) as acknowledgement of the applause ovation the fans gave him on the way out.

  6. @DavidW ~ the umpire behind the plate was watching the ball … he’s the one calling balls & strikes. he called it a ball, but the catcher asked for a third base ump ‘breaking the plane’ call (which is the only call the third base ump can call in this instance) & the home plate umps obliged.

obviously, the Racist ump (‘Racism’, the last refuge of a scoundrel) either wasn’t paying attention or had a hard-on for Harper … probably both
