  1. Gee, that’s so different from Bambi and Paw Patrol …
I thought that “in nature” all the l’il critters were buddies!
You know, like all the “minorities” in all our cities … and under socialism …

    Beautiful, as always!
    Thanks Claudia.

  2. Nice. Your consistent and persistent. How long have you been doing this? Ten years?
About thirty years ago, I was doing a salmon spawning ground survey on a small stream on the central Oregon coast. The endangered Coho salmon were spawning, and I startled a Bald Eagle as it was eating a female coho it had caught, that had just started digging it’s redd to lay eggs. One endangered species killing another. Totally awesome. Both species are now NOT endangered in the region they now live.

  3. We use to have upwards of 8 squirrels at a time in the front yard trying to raid the bird feeders. This fall I took the baffle off the shepherd’s hook and there hasn’t been a furry robber yet this winter. Something’s been dinning on them.

  4. @Sarthurk, I had to check back to see just how long I’ve been doing this. I started in 2010 and it took about six months to evolve into a weekly post. It’s been fun and I look forward to wracking my brain for topics!

  5. Love the juvie bald eagle looking at the crow. The crow prolly hitched a ride on the eagles’ back for a free surf ride. Crows like to do that. They’re feisty.

And…is that a cat being carried away by an eagle or hawk? Yikes!

  6. Great collection, Claudia! Sometimes you hunt – sometimes you’re hunted! The fox pics tell that story, lol.

One would think that crow/blackbird is stupid being so bold confronting that eagle, but there are a multitude of videos showing how they chase and harass birds-of-prey all the time. They are some serious parents.

I ran across a couple of things yesterday that had me think of you (of course!). I hope you enjoy them as much as I did.

No need to have Twitter to see them. I don’t have an account either.

  7. “And…is that a cat being carried away by an eagle or hawk? Yikes!”

Yeah, it does look like a cat to me, too.

But it looks like the cat is trying to catch the eagle. Something my Sylvie might try, being the little bad ass she is. I’m certain it will be her demise at some point. The relatively new 100 lb dog here keeps getting his nose swiped when he gets too close. lol

  8. Critters are often taken by surprise. Several years ago a red tailed hawk fly through the window in our garage door. My son and brother-in-law saw it happen. The bird was stunned, but alive. They set the hawk out in the yard and after minutes recovering he flew away.
