These archival scenes of the late 1960s in London don’t whip up a sense of nostalgia for leftists. There is no diversity for the sake of diversity shown. The streets aren’t crawling with unassimilated Muslims.
Coincidentally, the clip opens with actor/singer Michael Des Barres, who was featured in To Sir With Love, a movie which was about multiculturalism. In the movie, Sidney Poitier’s immigrant character teaches some hardscrabble English kids how to mature into well-mannered, productive citizens.
Question: Is this happening with England’s current immigrants? I’m not sure it is.
(Not important side notes – Des Barres went on to sing in Power Station, replacing Robert Palmer. He was married to infamous groupie Pamela Des Barres. He was also featured in Seinfeld as the maitre’ de for the restaurant where the car valet had superhuman body odor.

I graduated high school in 1970, university in 1975- so definitely of that generation. People dressed better then and were not fat. Now, on every street corner, there are fat people with lots of tattoos. I feel like I am in a circus when I walk on the streets.
I visited London once, about 10 years ago. What a huge disappointment. no desire to return ever. A lefty colleague explained that no, London was a rockin place, one of the best in Europe, and that is was really super cool “because you can get the world’s best curry there now.”

I was in London in 2006 and even then the majority of people were “asian”. Beware the taxi drivers, they are insane (even the caucasians). I will never forget my death-defying ride through downtown London.
I took a train from Portsmouth and spent the day walking in London in 1988. Loved every second. Now, I would likely not go back. Prague, on the other hand…
