When there is a catastrophic failure blame W. Then ask for a couple of billion to make it all right and it will be back to “business”.

In the video they explain that they really don’t know where the subway cars are, so they have to keep huge gaps between the cars cutting down on the amount of cars that can get on a rail and serve commuters.
Their own system costs them money.
Then they whine and raise rates.

Didn’t they have newer and more modern equipment in the original version of The Taking of Pelham 123. And even in the movie The Train with Burt Lancaster.
Sounds like the same technology they used back on the transcontinental railroad, with the addition of some lights and levers to keep the telegraph operators from falling asleep.
The Train with Burt Lancaster is on my Top Ten List of The Greatest Films of All Time. Brilliant story, wonderfully acted and directed by a genius, John Frankenheimer. The cinematography is absolutely breath taking. Every single shot of this movie is masterfully done. Five stars!
Irony – Fully agree with your assessment of The Train. Burt Lancaster at his best demonstrating what one man alone, in the end, is capable of & Paul Schofield managing to be absolutely amoral & totally evil simultaneously. GREAT film.
In the video, I expected Wilford Brimley to walk through there sprouting some alien tentacles like on The Thing.
The Manchurian Candidate was also directed by John Frankenheimer. It’s still one of the best political thrillers ever and possibly Frank Sinatra’s best movie
People today have no concept of the shock value Manchurian had back then. It wasn’t released in Chicago till after the JFK killing. I saw it on New Year’s Day, 1965 at the Portage Theater on Irving Park Rd. I could never stand Angela Lansbury afterwards. Sinatra’s Best? Yeah – can’t argue it.
We have the same set up in Toronto,it is now 60 year old technology.
