Caribbean Mugabenomics

mugabenomics

Caracas Chronicles: […] “Might Venezuela go the way of Zimbabwe? They are culturally very different, but the political parallels are ominous. Both countries have suffered under charismatic revolutionary leaders. Robert Mugabe has ruled Zimbabwe since 1980. Hugo Chávez ran Venezuela from 1998 until his death in 2013. His handpicked successor, Nicolás Maduro, continues his policies, though with none of Chávez’s—or Mr Mugabe’s—political adroitness.

Mr. Mugabe seized big commercial farms without compensation, wrecking Zimbabwe’s largest industry. Chávez expropriated businesses on a whim, sometimes on live television.”

  1. I get the feeling Mugabe wants to “return” the land to the white farmers so that they can either save the country (under impossibly horrendous drought and Gubberment conditions), OR, under those same conditions, when the farms (and therefore, the country) fail, then he can shift the blame from himself to whitey.

  2. America’s becoming Zimbabwe.

Zimbabwe isn’t simply African stupidity – it’s socialist stupidity.

Spain did the same thing in the 30s.

Take the farms (or other means of production) from the farmers and give it to apparatchiks or family.

    Sure design for catastrophe …

    izlamo delenda est …

  3. Was it Hugo that used to get on TV and give long rambling discourses? Read his poetry and shit?

Was that him or another tin pot dictator in one of those ‘countries’ down south of here?
