Halloweenish-Like Stuff of Nightmares (or maybe this is your cup of tea)

  1. I’m so old I can remember when slicing and mutilating body parts like this (and intentionally having a face full of hardware to boot) was rightly considered a sign of mental illness that would have these people institutionalized indefinitely.

  2. A few years ago the non-profit I worked for (who ran programs for developmentally disabled children and adults) hired a bunch of actual pagan (worshipers) for what’s called direct care staff, each of them having multiple tats, elongated ear lobes, piercings, and these crazy tongues.

For the most part it didn’t work out because of work attitudes, resistance to being forced to “normalize client activities,” and overall parent and public perception.

I had to continually (was in charge of aspects of the Employee assistance program) tell management what did they expect in hiring fringe people even though they expressed desire to work – we couldn’t build common ground in ideas and practices because they weren’t capable of it — and they weren’t abusive either.

A person who cuts their tongue in two is not just looking attention – there is a serious motivation to do so and be “different.”

  3. Somewhere out there is a “Sympathetic Plaintiff” who, after paying some surgeon MD for these expensive mutilations, will hook up with just the right tort lawyers. And they will sue big, and win big, for psychological damage resulting from a doctor enabling and making possible all this bodily self-damage.

That will be the turning of the tide. Same thing with sex reassignment surgery. Somewhere the perfect legal case is brewing. Once we see some gigantic settlements and payouts, the tide will turn.

  4. And here I am feeling guilty for not taking care of my temple as perfectly as possible.

It would be easy to be less guilty by pointing a finger and saying something like: ‘At least I’m not THAT bad’.

But rationalization of my own faults by comparison to others doesn’t fly with God.

A conversation I had earlier this week with a customer was whether or not someone who embraces their dark side and doesn’t even try to hide it any more is better than those who pretend to be good but are still evil at heart.

I argued that the liars are, at least, acknowledging that their dark side is wrong by lying. Ergo I would rank the liars one step up from the ones who embrace their evil.

But, for the people around them – these kind of people that advertise themselves this way actually are better than the ones who project a fake persona.

You know who they are up front and can act accordingly more quickly before you pay a price learning who they really are.

And Hans, What the hell was that person thinking when he/she hired those people. Clueless? Pollyanna? Dumb? Yeesh!

  5. Love tats, love self mutilation. Same reason Black Widow’s red hour glass, coral snake red/yellow banding, Crotalus atrox rattle and repugnant smell of death; avoidance warnings. Really helpful.

  6. I see no fascination in body altering and mutilation.
All I see are some sick individuals who choose to be an outcast of society.
Life is a long and difficult road to travel when you create craters and obstacles on your path.

  7. Deep thoughts there, Dad of 4. I agree with you.

I think these people have given up on succeeding in any way in the mainstream (because it takes some effort, and there’s a possibility of failure). Easier to just refuse to be part of the normal world.

  8. Involvement in the occult. This is an outward manifestation of demon possession. Black eyes, demonic tattoos, body mutilation. When you see these people in person, pray. Immediately. For your own protection. This link following helps to explain.

“There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch, or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer. For all that do these things are an abomination unto the Lord: and because of these abominations the Lord thy God doth drive them out from before thee” (Deuteronomy 18:10-13).

  9. My son when he was about 18 or 19 decided to piece his tongue and it got infected but the Doc who removed it was also his Uncle and namesake. My brother in law is a trauma Doc here locally at Sacred Heart Medical Ctr. he read my son the riot act and threatened him if he ever did that again the next time he would rip it out with a pair of pliers. It must’ve worked because he hasn’t tried it ever again other than having bright blue hair like a Smurf. My late Father in law put the kibosh on that one by telling he looked like an idiot.
