  1. I don’t believe this. Of the stories I have heard about bucks’ antlers entangling during battle, none have resulted in something like this. Most are found with both dead, or one being dead and the other barely alive.
    There is no way this living buck could have survived until that head broke free from the body. I bet, in his hormonal rage that occurs during the rut, the living buck tried to fight an already dead carcass and the head broke free from the deteriorated body.

    Like I said – the stories I have been told are counter to this.
    I even found two dead carcasses locked together the following spring. Even many of the experts quoted in the stories didn’t believe it.
