12 year old girl invents “Medi Teddy”- something that makes IVs less scary for kids

This is great, until you realize it looks like the teddy bear is shitting directly into you.

Laughing Squid-

When I had my first infusion, I was surprised and a little bit intimidated by the look of the amount of tubing and medical equipment on my IV pole. As I saw more and more children experiencing the same feelings, I became more interested in creating a friendlier experience for young IV patients, so I created Medi Teddy.

The Medi Teddy presents no interference to the medical aspect of the infusion and can even help to relax a frightened or nervous child going through a procedure.

My cynicism aside, it took a kid to tackle a kid’s problem.

Good for her.

  1. Typical kid.

An adult would have gone with corporate logos and naming rights. Hell, I’d slap the Kool Aide guy on the bag and charge 20 bucks a pop.

The adult IV drip bags would have vodka logos on them. Talk about reassuring.

  2. About a year and a half ago I had a prostate surgery surgery (TURP).
I could have used one of these on IV and another on the catch bag attached to the catheter to cover up the blood and urine.
