This week, Sen. Bernie Sanders upped the ante on free stuff the legion of Democratic presidential candidates are promising voters. In what he called a “revolutionary proposal,” Sanders says that if elected he would forgive “all student debt” — that’s $1.6 trillion worth — and end “the absurdity of sentencing an entire generation to a lifetime of debt for the ‘crime’ of getting a college education.”
It would be hard to devise a plan that would shower more benefits on the wealthy than this one.
Just 12% of college debt is owed by those in the bottom quarter of income earners, according to the Urban Institute. “In other words, education debt is disproportionately concentrated among the well off,” the report notes.
Sanders’ plan would relieve doctors, MBAs, and computer scientists of their student debt. These are people who are or soon will be making six-figure salaries. Keep in mind, too, that students who borrow money for college are investing in their own futures, since a college degree is a ticket to higher incomes.
Even the left-leaning Slate.com had to admit that “from a pure fairness perspective, this would be a pretty questionable use of federal tax dollars.”

I want lots of high quality free stuff but don’t want to pay a dime for any of it. Who’s offering the best deals this week for my vote?????? Asking for a long standing mooch/freeloader.

Now you know why Obama had the government take over all student loans in America. It was a scheme to buy votes with and destroy the middle class, thus America.
What about all those that worked their way through collage and did not take out student loans? What about those that did but have since paid them off? What about those that went to trade schools and did not take out student loans- do they get something? Or are we just looking at a specific demographic and are bribing them to get not too stoned on voting day so they can stumble in and pull the lever for Bernie.
There should be a law that states if you take $ from the state you are not allowed to vote. Only those that are paying into the system get a say on how the money is spent.
Unfortunately most people only hear free. There was a poll of dems only and 75% of them did not understand Medicare for All means your employer plan is eliminated. It isn’t an option. Gonzo. We all get the VA system. On top of the mass taxation through payroll and income taxes.
I don’t think i’m going out on a limb with this alternative headline.

Ronnie eliminated or reduced many loopholes – LIBS CALL ‘EM DEDUCTIONS + EXCLUSIONS- . the result was that in ’81 with a top rate of 70% Bush + BHO only paid 1%!. In ’89 with a top rate of only 28% ON AVERAGE the rich paid 10%!
If loopholes are closed or shrunk; the middle class will not be hurt.
