Reagan Library Saved By Goats – IOTW Report

Reagan Library Saved By Goats

Newser-

As a new wildfire started up in California’s hillsides this week, the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library became a target—and officials are now patting themselves on the back for a “darn smart” idea that may have helped save it. CNN reports that the Easy Fire kicked up on Wednesday morning near Simi Valley, with the Ventura County Fire Department noting it burned through 1,300 acres in less than 24 hours. Firefighters and aircraft personnel took aim at the flames approaching the library, but a library spokeswoman tells USA Today one more factor apparently worked to the library’s advantage: a herd of hundreds of goats, which the fire department recruits each May to chow down on the vegetation around the facility’s perimeter, effectively creating a firebreak. “Vincent Van Goat” and “Selena Goatmez” were among the stars who helped make the save, per Reuters.

“It was darn smart for us to do that,” a library official crowed about the annual goat-led initiative at the site, which hosts the graves of Ronald and Nancy Reagan in addition to documents, photos, film, audiotapes, and Reagan’s Air Force One plane.

  1. DONT SHOW THE GOATS!

…You’re going to make Muslims all rapey…well, rapiER…and they have TWO reasons to rape these PARTICULAR goats, since they saved a symbol of America’s greatness…

…also, Newsome will probably imprison them for environmental crimes. Democrats in CA seem to want to live in the middle ages, and they DID put animals on trial then, too, so it could happen…

  2. This blackout and fire nonsense smacks of an overarching plan.
Get the public used to interrupted services
To tell me these fires are the result of ‘global warming’ is and insult
The power companies have just neglected their housekeeping duties in collusion with forestry agencies who have abandoned their responsibilities in order to advance a subversive socialist agenda

  3. horses seek their herd mates when frightened. This is why a lone horse will run back into a burning barn. Only the most alpha stallion or mare will take point when in danger. Horses live by the code: stronger together.”

No wonder Hillary retreated back sick to Chelsea’s apartment, shoeless into a van, and to her losing campaign headquarters, while using the slogan “stronger together.” She ran back into the arms of the deep state, her alpha stallion. Even horses know she’s no leader.

  4. Supernightshade – “make Muslims all rapey” It’s OK, so long as you sell it to the village over. What’s the sales pitch? Pre-tenderized?

You know “Jackasses” wouldn’t rescue anybody but themselves.

  5. …Democrats probably SET the fire to TRY to burn the library down to score cheap political points and vent their limitless, inchoate rage.

NOTHING is too low for them…

…I don’t know if they prefer eating it BEFORE or AFTER sex. Given Islsmic proclivities, hygiene, and general contrarian “standards”, they like would consider a semen-filled goat anus a delicacy, and fight each other for the privilege to eat it raw in great ceremony…

…we ARE talking about people who drink goat urine and milk for medicine as an article of religious faith…

…weirdly, though, the people that a Hadeeth in the Bukhari claims were healed by it turned apostatical shortly after and Mohammad killed them by his own account, so you would think they’d consider it a BAD thing because it causes healthy apostates that need to be killed, but never look for logical thinking in Islam…

“Narrated Abu Qilaba: “Anas said, “Some people of ‘Ukl or ‘Uraina tribe came to Medina and its climate did not suit them. So the Prophet ordered them to go to the herd of (Milch) camels and to drink their milk and urine (as a medicine). So they went as directed and after they became healthy, they killed the shepherd of the Prophet and drove away all the camels. The news reached the Prophet early in the morning and he sent (men) in their pursuit and they were captured and brought at noon. He then ordered to cut their hands and feet (and it was done), and their eyes were branded with heated pieces of iron, They were put in ‘Al-Harra’ and when they asked for water, no water was given to them.” Abu Qilaba said, “Those people committed theft and murder, became infidels after embracing Islam and fought against Allah and His Apostle . (Sahih Bukhari, Ablutions (Wudu’), Volume 1, Book 4, Number 234)”

  7. I went to Church with a forestry firefighter 25+ years ago. He was complaining way back then about California causing their woes because they refused to allow underbrush removed. He would say they were so ignorant, they’d rather thousands of acres burn leaving the land barren, than to remove brush or remove one tree.

  8. Lazlo is an old Firedog.
I fought wildland fires all over CA back in the eighties.
Back then all the old guys would say: “Let it burn or it will be a lot worse later on” But the ones with any sense all retired out long ago and left us
The ban on Manzanita cutting, the extensive regulation on private property, not allowing homeowners to build defensible space, and issuing building permits for structures in chaparral without fire safe requirements, all this adds up.
The underbrush (2nd canopy) gets thick, the deer migration routes change and Federal lands closed off to commercial interests so no roads get cut into those areas and when a fire breaks out all the fighting has to be done from the air or on foot.

I hear ya, and you’re dead right. My father was an L.A. County Firefighter (Air Operations Helicopter Pilot) in the 70s, he passed away in ’81 in a private plane crash, and he and all of the guys in Air Ops were saying the same thing back then.
