According to an anonymous source that spoke to the BurstReview YouTube channel, FLIR will discontinue civilian sales of optics this Monday, January 20th.
According to BurstReview’s sources, FLIR’s board of directors and shareholders are anti-hunting and believe that only military and law enforcement should have access to thermal optics. This source also stated that FLIR allegedly laid off everyone in their civilian and hunting sales departments.
The sources stated this was further supported by recent events surrounding Armasight. Allegedly following FLIR’s acquisition of Armasight, they laid off all hunting prostaff and instructed social media personnel to never show any kill shots going forward.
This is very interesting news, and could turn the market against FLIR. Especially given rising tensions between civilians and militarized police that are seen as overstepping their authority.
But this is all hearsay until the alleged reveal date of Monday the 20th. Be sure to stay tuned for the latest information on this and other stories coming out of SHOT Show 2020.
FLIR was contacted and given 48 hours to respond before the publication of this article. If we receive a response the article will be updated.
Update: Multiple retailers are confirming that FLIR has restricted sales to law enforcement and the military.

So FLIR’s attitude is killing animals to feed and nurture people bad, killing people good? Great marketing idea.
It figures, these idiots are incapable of understanding that those same devices are very often used to protect wildlife and that cannot be accomplished solely by law enforcement.
I swear, these idiots are slithering into every possible area of life and heavily armed with ignorance.
I’ve seen a few articles regarding the FBI’s seizure of night vision devices arguing “emminent domain”. Anyone else seen these articles?
One article used the term imminent and another used eminent. There is a difference.
It’s also so that the bad guys can’t see the cops looking for them, and also how to hide from FLIR, which I saw one time the use of a giant aluminum foil sheet was effective in masking the heat signature, but I haven’t tried it, don’t know where to buy a 7′ long, 3′ wide sheet of foil.

There are numerous posts today alleging that FLIR has discontinued sales to civilians as of today (01-20-2020). So, I went to the FLIR site and did not find any announcement in regard to this.
I believe it is basically a reaction to the First Colony (1607) event in Richmond today.
At any rate, there are dozens of U.S, vendors who are well-stocked with FLIR optics. So, if you have come across this on the Internet, just take it with a grain of salt until anything official is announced from FLIR (who stands to go out of business, if they actually do curtail civilian sales).

At least until democrats legislate “common sense” survival blanket control.
FLIR products, including rifle scopes still available on Amazon. This rumor was probably started to increase sales and maximize profits.
Amazon, Sportsman’s Guide, most survival suppliers have these survival blankets by the case, useful for many applications to mask heat signatures, use your imagination….

I have several FLIR products and they all are made in China. The Chinese will counterfeit and sell them under another name. FLAIR anyone?
Was looking to buy a FLIR camera to help diagnose tractor engine issues….not anymore.
Some gun manufacturers have run into trouble relying specifically on .gov contracts.
Hope these cheese-eaters go the same way-serve’em right.
