Los Angeles repeals requirements for contractors to reveal NRA ties

FOX: The Los Angeles City Council is repealing a law requiring companies that want city contracts to disclose whether they have ties to the National Rifle Association, weeks after a federal judge blocked the city from enforcing the ordinance.

Council members voted 12-0 without discussion Tuesday to roll back the law, which was passed last year. It required firms seeking deals with the city to disclose contracts or sponsorships between them or their subsidiaries and the NRA.

Councilman Mitch O’Farrell pushed for the rules following a spate of U.S. mass shootings, including a November 2018 attack that killed 12 people at a bar in Thousand Oaks, California. He said at the time that the NRA had been a “roadblock to gun safety reform” for decades. read more

  1. this is total ‘feel-good’ ignorance. I fail to see why punishing any company that has a contract w/ the NRA should be banned from bidding on a city contract. who GAS if they supplied the dry wall to the local NRA office?

the only criteria is whether or not the company in question is capable of performing the service desired … & it is always disclosed in the pre-bid process & up to the city (or any gov’ts) project managers or procurement managers to verify the veracity of the claim

… of course, unless you are a Communist that wants only ‘worthy’ companies to do business w/ you

  2. The mayor of Los Angeles (eric garcetti) was running for president for 2020. He dropped out of the campaign after the FBI began investigating him for corruption.

Without exaggeration, it is apparent that the democrat governing game is a game of stealing, period. Hard to believe, but it is true, and without exaggeration. Tulsi Gabbard might be the ONLY honest one!

  3. Regarding govt contracting: how hard do you suppose it is for any company with known right wing affiliations to get approvals from bureaucrats after the job is done or before the contracts are signed?
