As U.S. state and local officials halt the economy and quarantine their communities over the Wuhan virus crisis, one would hope our leaders were making such major decisions based on well-sourced data and statistical analysis. That is not the case.

A scan of statements made by media, state governors, local leaders, county judges, and more show many relying on the same source, an online mapping tool called COVID Act Now. The website says it is “built to enable political leaders to quickly make decisions in their Coronavirus response informed by best available data and modeling.”

An interactive map provides users a catastrophic forecast for each state, should they wait to implement COVID Act Now’s suggested strict measures to “flatten the curve.” But a closer look at how many of COVID Act Now’s predictions have already fallen short, and how they became a ubiquitous resource across the country overnight, suggests something more sinister.   2. What is crazy is citizens are starting to call the police when they see people out. In Austin some neighbors saw a few houses under construction, called the police and they shut it down and had an emergency meeting. They now our enacting some permit system, you are supposed to have a permit to go to different counties in Texas. It seriously is turning into a fascist society. With citizens gleefully participating. At this point I wouldn’t be surprised if people just went along with taking sick people to a gas chamber. Two weeks and it is getting hard to imagine going back to ‘normal’.

  5. They did not want to use real data, the bed wetters in London and the medical community were involved in the scecond coming of the Black Plague. They did not let anything like real data interfere with their model, The real death rate is 0.01353. Hate to spoil their over reaction. Nowhere near a national pandemic. Data from overseas is unreliable at best.

  6. Likewise, I find the PSAs with Hollywood elites saying that “we all in it together” just a wee bit hypocritical. Like they may miss a paycheck or will run out of toilet paper while living in their gated communities.

  7. I just returned from a PT appointment and they were distributing a “calm the F down” data sheet. Wish i would have brought it home. The media and the liberals are using this to tear our economy down to prevent DJT’s reelection. This is a travesty and its all terribly overblown.

    With a now reported total of 71 virus cases, over one third of which are in ONE county, the (d) governor has shut down MT effective Saturday for all but “essential” activities. And the USFS here in the Nolackaloonies area has closed the national forests. Their totalitarian forebears are all chuckling and dancing with glee!

  14. I have PAPERS! The corporate office emailed a letter to print off for me to carry around to show the “authorities” that I am an “essential employee” to the “health, safety, and welfare” of the residents of the community…
    It’s like a Hall Pass…
    Or travels papers from a totalitarian regime!

  15. I had an MRI scheduled for early April. I sent a message to the doc thru the hospital website to see if maybe we should postpone since they were likely busy. He replied back that it was okay to push out 2 months until they got thru this “COVID fiasco”…fiasco, his words. I am sure they are getting inundated with people who think they are going to die and just need a box of tissues.

  16. Over here in Maine, Portland and South Portland are sending mixed messages. They have issued stay at home orders under penalty of arrest and/ or fines of $500 to $5000. But you can go out for walks and bike rides and to the grocery stores and the gas stations and to work if still open as long as you stay 6 ft apart.
    Most everything is closed anyway.
    By what they’ve issued you just can’t gather in groups (1st amendment violation, but a wise choice) and you can’t drive around.Why you can’t drive around is beyond me. You are in a vehicle, isolated from everyone else.
    In my opinion this is just a trial as to how much power the leftists can grab. I will be interested in their behavior after this is over.
    If they had made requests instead of issuing commands that would be a different matter.
