  1. Gotta love it! Yes, very relaxing and soothing!

…And ya gotta love stunt driver / actor Bill Hickman who did most of the driving. My favorite work of his was his on-screen part as the bad guy driving the Charger 440 in Bullitt.

  2. The problem is not many if ANY cars make the roaring sounds, on demand, like the Lemans did!

IF this were to EVER happen to anyone here, if encountered, put the car or truck into neutral than REV the engine really hard, a couple of times, to use as a scare tactic. Then put into forward and hit the pedal, or reverse, everyone should be familiar with reverse as much as forward.

A reverse move could save your life.

    Thanks @MJA – very soothing indeed…

  3. Maybe it’s because I worked around fighter planes and other jets when I was in the Navy that I actually like the end chase scene in Bullit more with the foot chase across the tarmac at the SF airport and the chase thru the terminal till he finally shot the bad guy to death inside the front door to the airport. All the chase scenes with both the 68 Mustang and the 68 Dodge Charger and the chase thru the airport were great. Oher than The Great Escape and Papillon this was by far Steve McQueen’s best action movie. Hell Is For Heroes and The Hunter, his last movie are also great and of course the sci fi classic the Blob.

  4. Looked like the camera op almost got smoked.

There a scene from Magnum Force, when Dirty Harry was running over a moto-cop, where the camera ops were almost smoked.

I figured that would trigger someone remember button. Some of us NorCal Hot Rod guys trailered our cars down there a couple times in the late 70’s. Mainly Ocean Blvd area. I had a sub 12 Mopar that consumed all my paychecks. Which was the fastest of our group. It wasn’t uncommon to run into 10 second cars running around down there. Crazy good times.

  6. I liked the chase in Ronin, when the girl was driving an M5 and deNiro had a crummy front wheel drive Renault. Into oncoming traffic.
Frankenheimer had some great chases. I worked for a company that produced the first set of BMW films in 2001, and he directed the first one. Most of them are very good. Ang Lee did one that compares to that Baby Driver clip, but set to a waltz.

  7. My favorite chase scene was Anne Bancroft chasing Dustin Hoffman in The Graduate….the fenders, bumpers and headlights really makes a fella want to see whats under the hood…..
