Law And Crime
The Supreme Court of the United States heard oral arguments on Wednesday in a case that will determine whether or not college athletes can be adequately paid for their labor.
The National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA), along with a smaller college athletics association and a handful of states, says that students should be subject to the organization’s rules and cannot be endorsed by outside third parties because that would render college athletes into something more than amateurs. The students, along with dozens of law professors, economists, historians, former NCAA officials and the U.S. government, believe the NCAA is engaged in classic antitrust behavior and using their arguments about amateurism to shield their actions from scrutiny. more here
I’m for anything that defunds “higher” education.
…I don’t care what they do since I’m not going to watch ANY edition of WokeBall, No Whites Need Apply, but I CAN offer them advice as to exactly WHERE they can cram those balls, and if a listless and corrupt, pervert-headed Supreme Court wants to do the pushing, so much the better…
The NCAA is as corrupt as most large organizations.
When they become ‘professional athletes’ and are ‘paid’ then they can RENT the public tax paid for facilities they use, pay for the college name usage and logos, pay for their coaches, equipment and uniforms and pay for their own tuition and living expenses while in college (no more athletic scholarships or free tax paid anything)!
This is so much more important for SCOTUS than some minor shit like stolen elections, voter fraud, fake pandemics, mandatory masks and vaccination papers or the total destruction of 1st and 2nd amendment rights.
Hell of a job your doing Roberts. I’m sure your mind is still dealing with the loss of your BFF Jeffery Epstein. Maybe the Chinese will compensate you for your sacrifices.
Will the women’s bowling team expect to be paid as much as the football and basketball players?
@Mman: Maybe the women’s blowing team will…
There is way too much money in college sports and it has been rigged forever. Remember these guys get cars, girls and cash under the table.
BMX, last time I checked, no college required. If one is good, hey, here’s a emblem to wear, or two or three…Here’s a Bike with a pit crew.
if NCAA sports go ‘professional’ there are going to be a pant load of unintended consequences
just think of the litigation that’s to come … Title IX is gone (as most ‘women’s’ sports …. who’s gonna pay to watch?)
when you actually pay people for their performance & that performances worth to the organization you create a hierarchy …. anathema to the current ‘Glorious Revolution’
… don’t know about you, but I’m getting my popcorn ready!
