BigGovernment: California Lt. Governor Gavin Newsom (D) wants to lead a fight against gun ownership–yet has spent millions of taxpayer dollars to surround himself with armed security.
Breibart News previously reported Newsom’s belief that the Paris attacks would have been worse if citizens had been armed for self-defense. He told HBO’s Bill Maher that the whole idea of a good guy with a gun stopping a bad guy is “mythology.”
Newsom’s exact words on Maher’s show, Real Time, were: “I just simply, this sort of mythology, the guy with the gun that’s going to come save the day, I mean, so right out of the movies, sort of this gun-slinging fantasy. The reality is, it’s most likely to create more harm, more damage, more lost lives in those circumstances.”
Rewind a few years to Newsom’s tenure as Mayor of San Francisco. He was mayor from 2004 to 2011, and toward the end of that time–on July 7, 2009–reports emerged that Newsom had spent “millions” surrounding himself with armed security. I think states like CA that have huge minorities of people with viewpoints 180 degrees from their leadership should be allowed to split into separate entities. IL and CO come to mind.
Cook County in IL and Denver & Boulder counties in CO are so populated with REgressives that they control the other 90+% of the state that is in direct opposition to their policies.
We had a self-proclaimed fiscal conservative get up at the last county-managers’ meeting who wanted them to spend tons of taxpayer dough on (Agenda 21) bike trails and sidewalks for his neighborhood. He emphatically said they wouldn’t cost anything.
We in the audience laughed (which ticked off said commenter to no end), which is exactly what I wish Maher’s audience would have done. Laugh at them.

Newsom was born into Democratic royalty and while not heir to the throne he’s at least one of the princes. There’s some slobber in his wiki bio about his having to work two jobs because his family kept giving their money away. Utter crap. Anyway, this is one of those two faced liberals who enjoy the good life while trying to introduce socialist ideals to the common folk. As mayor of San Francisco he didn’t start the city on it’s downward spiral from “Dirty Harry” and “Bullitt” to “Priscilla, Queen of the Desert” but he sure didn’t do anything to stop it and in fact encouraged some of the outrageous act of governance. This prick just wants to make sure that the common folk won’t have access to weapons when the truth finally dawns on them and the koolaid wears off.
