The Hill-

Former Attorney General Alberto Gonzales says Donald Trump is right to challenge the fairness a judge overseeing lawsuits against him.

“An independent judiciary is extremely important. But that value is not the only one in play here,” Gonzales wrote in a Saturday op-ed for The Washington Post.

“Equally important, if not more important from my perspective as a former judge and U.S. attorney general, is a litigant’s right to a fair trial,” he continued.

“The protection of that right is a primary reason why our Constitution provides for an independent judiciary. If judges and the trials over which they preside are not perceived as impartial, the public will quickly lose interest in the rule of law upon which our nation is based.”
Trump on Thursday said U.S. District Judge Gonzalo Curiel’s Hispanic ethnicity is “an absolute conflict” in three civil fraud lawsuits against the billionaire.

He said Curiel’s “Mexican heritage” makes him partial because of Trump’s calls for a wall along America’s southern border with Mexico.

Gonzales on Saturday said Trump has reason beyond just race to doubt Curiel, who is American, will treat him fairly.

Harsh Politically Motivated Criticism By Hillary Clinton and Republican Establishment Shows Why They Are Not Honest With The American People About Our Legal System and Judges

Recently, in a criminal prosecution of Cliven Bundy in Las Vegas federal court, where I have sought to appear as Mr. Bundy’s criminal defense counsel along with a fine local lawyer (as I have written on www.wnd.com in my weekly columns), I have again experienced bias and prejudice against my client by a federal judge of Mexican-American heritage who is likely in part hostile because I represent Sheriff Joe Arpaio in a Supreme Court case challenging President Barack Obama’s executive amnesty orders.

This federal judge, Gloria Navarro, like Judge Curiel in the Trump University case, is a Latina activist and attended law school in Maricopa County, where Arpaio is sheriff. She was recommended to the bench by Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid, who has said publicly that Cliven Bundy and his family are “domestic terrorists,” and that they should be imprisoned. President Obama, who nominated Navarro at Reid’s urging, has also attacked Cliven Bundy, falsely suggesting that Cliven Bundy is racist.

In short, Judge Navarro, I sincerely believe, influenced by her national origin and allegiance to Reid and Obama, has made a number of biased and highly prejudicial rulings that have abridged and effectively trashed Cliven Bundy’s constitutional rights by denying him his Sixth Amendment right to counsel and a speedy trial. For a time, Judge Navarro also apparently had Cliven Bundy imprisoned in solitary confinement. Judge Navarro has even suggested that Cliven Bundy’s wife should be indicted along with him and his sons, following the lead of her benefactors, Reid and Obama. My co-counsel in Cliven Bundy’s criminal defense has moved to disqualify her, which she predictably denied and the matter is now headed to the appeals court.

  1. Well, Gingrich tends to tell someone they should speak their mind and then tries to duct tape the person’s mouth shut for the wrong reason. Trump wasn’t talking shit about his Mexican heritage, he was talking shit about the judge’s extracurricular activities that are pro Aztlan/anti American. If Gingy doesn’t know the diff, that’s his problem.

  2. The subject matter is accused fraud by Trump “University”.
Nothing to do with Mexicans at all.
So the judge doesn’t like Trump. Fact is that were he a friend of Trump, the other side would claim bias.
The history of this particular judge is worth noting. He had to go into hiding and living on a military base with his family not even knowing where he was due to the threats on his live by the cartels.
When CA decided to side with the cartels, he was dumped and left to his own devices, so he headed out of state.
I wouldn’t be surprised if he got involved with La Raza as cover after he moved out of CA.
Sometimes people in dangerous situations have to do things they otherwise would not.
Trump, by throwing this judges past into the spotlight is endangering this judges life, and he knows it.
Everything is not politics. There are real people with real lives out there.

  3. La Raza (Poncy frauds) doesn’t want the land, they want the infrastructure.
If the Mexican border had stayed the way ‘The Race’ wanted it, the entire Southwest would look like Tijuana, except with less plumbing and electricity.
