Boy submerged 9 1/2 minutes underwater lives thanks to hotel guests and the police

Here is a shortened version of the full video.

The kid, for some dumb reason, lifts a heavy metal grate so he can look down a hole. It was the “Lazy River” pool’s powerful intake. His leg was sucked in and he couldn’t raise his head above the surface of the water.

I can’t imagine the fear that gripped this kid when he realized he frigged himself. I would be trying to tell the people helping to just cut my leg off.

The first hero is the big guy with the beard. He jumps in and periodically goes under the water to puff some air into the kid. For some reason he and another guy cannot do what a policeman does just seconds after he arrives.

He dives under, and just with sheer strength and determination he pulls the kid’s leg out.

Then the CPR begins immediately. The kid lived.

Just another day in the life of the much maligned police force across this nation.

  1. Those returns are very dangerous and everyone should be aware. That kid could have come out much worse. Many people have sat on the grate in just a hot tub or pool and lets just say, what’s supposed to stay inside makes a visit outside. Very scary and dangerous! Sorry to be graphic but as a parent it scared the you know what out of me. Thank God he’s OK!

  2. I received my pool certification last year. There should have been an emergency shutoff nearby and he should not have been able to lift that grate. Look up Virginia Graeme Baker law. It might be the only thing Debbie Blabbermouth Shultz ever contributed to the world.

Could have been something like opening a sealed jar? You know, when one person tries to get it open but can’t, but they really loosened it enough so when they hand the jar to someone else to try it comes right off?

I don’t know but it is a thought.
