After years of suffering from a leg broken in a riding accident and numerous failed surgeries, Jordan Beckwith had her right foot amputated.
Prior to the 2.5 hour surgery, the 27-year-old woman had various break up messages written on the soon to be removed limb such as “It’s not me, it’s you” and signed it “Your blood supply.” More
Will insurance pay any of this? This is elective surgery .
What an awful thing to happen to a young and active person, and what an uplifting display of fine character and good judgment on her part. Miss Beckwith, may the results of your surgery be all that you hope for!
@Dr. Tar – About that article title, it seems in Miss Beckwith’s case the primary breaking up part was as easy as falling off a
loghorse!Gutsy decision. Best of luck to her.
I don’t get the tats, what good are they unless she kept the foot and has it framed. Like most tats, they’re unreadable. At least she has a prosthetic to walk on. Tough choice she made.
Smudge, I image her doctors have a say into whether the amputation was necessary or not.
It certainly seems like they tried their hardest not to take that drastic “step.”
I guess now you could say she’s footless and fancy-free.
@Vietvet – And she can giggle at her new nickname, “Eileen”.
(If she were Asian, she’d be “Irene”.)
She’s going out with Skip, the water-skier with no arms or legs
About a year ago a friend of mine had his foot amputated at the ankle. Little did they tell him it would have been better at the knee because the nerve endings are still active at the ankle and it causes him great pain.
She can get a job at IHOP
Guy down here wrote a Book “Letters from the Sandbox”
He was a Contractor in Iraq..Guy next to Him stepped on a Mine,
and He (the Author) had horrible injuries to His Foot…
After a Year or two of horrendous pain and many Surgeries , He also
said “F*ck It. Cut it off”
Charles Meier was His name.
Yikes! Poor thing.
Well she’s off the list.

We can do some amazing stuff..
Still can’t do as good as what God gave us…
Knew a guy did the same thing. Shattered his lower leg bones..
Wore an external fixator for a year… They offered to transplant one of his own good bones to the other leg.. And then have two hobbled legs. He decided to amputate below the knee… Got his mobility back
Cut off the other 3 limbs, and she could be second base.
I was nervous that I would click the link and find that they’d cut off the wrong foot!
