Brit Hume delivers devastating slap-down to Trump-hating lefty Soledad O’Brien

American Thinker: By Thomas Lifson

It is now an established practice in roughly 90% of the American media that anything that President Trump does is wrong, and usually an outrage. Thus, when he and Melania flew to Iraq and Germany for a post-Christmas visit to the troops deployed there, it had to be bad, a transparently craven reaction to criticisms that had started appearing in lefty media that he had not yet visited troops in a war zone – as all his recent predecessors had done — as his first term in office neared its halfway point.

Brit Hume, the senior commentator at Fox News, and a man who has seen it all in the DC swamp over the last several decades, was not an early Trump supporter, but over the last couple of years, seems to have had his fill of TDS-addled media figures hyperventilating about everything Trump does.

Soledad O’Brien has not been around the media as long as Brit Hume, but her background includes stints at a number of the major Trump-hating broadcast outlets, including MSNBC, CNN (where she anchored the morning show Starting Point) and HBO. Now she runs a company called Starfish Media Group, whose website describes its role as writing material for corporate and nonprofit clients to make them look good (my paraphrasing of this):

Starfish Media Group partners with some of the world’s leading brands, agencies, non-profit groups, and organizations to produce non-fiction programming, profiles, and stories that resonate with global audiences across multiple platforms. Our clients rely on our journalism and storytelling to amplify their brand messages, and together, we create memorable campaigns.

[Cough!] If it is written at the behest of the subject who is paying you, it ain’t properly called “journalism.” The charitable term is “PR” and less charitable ones include “propaganda” and “flackery” among others.

Ms. O’Brien had the bad idea of responding to a tweet from Hume making fun of former star Alyssa Milano. MORE

  1. The condescending “let me spell it slower for you” was a gem. The little snot had the facts fly right over her addled head and never seemed to grasp them. She’s in perfect company with Milano who shares the same mindset as only idiots can.

  2. Question?
Does a starfish today still retain the same definition as a balloon knot?
Will probable see an answer, if not here, Sunday morning on NBC with Chuck Todd in a PSA ‘The more you know’.

  3. Pot meet kettle. Brit Hume could teach a college “journalism” class on flackery and propaganda. Can’t stand him. He gave us Romney as the nominee. And he tried to deep six Trump’s campaign, too! Don’t care what he thinks of Trump now. Hume is part of the Deep State Media. Trust him at your peril.

  4. Welcome to the New Communism of the Left where the Disinformation and Propaganda is extruded via the Starfish Media process and wears $200.00 Nike tennis shoes (so that it can get around the world fast)!

  5. “Barabar” lolol the dolt was rage-tweeting. She might as well hang tampons on her ears on national TV.

I don’t know why she’s decided to start tweeting so much, but it’s unlikely that it is going to help her get corporate clients. Wonder which lefty billionaire is bankrolling her PR shop. He’ll probably have to mansplain to her why she should dn ʞɔnɟ ǝɥʇ ʇnɥS and follow the plan.

“Soledad, there’s a reason why you hardly ever see Chelsea Clinton’s tweets anymore.”

  6. Hmmm, in spite of a previous indiviudal’s post…I still love Brit Hume. I have found him to be an honest, conscientious broker of the news. Though, I did not realize he brokered so much power as to get Mitt Romney nominated to the GOP Presidential pick. WOW.

And how dare Hume be skeptical of Trump, oh, wait, except I was, in the beginning. Then the more I heard, the more I changed my mind….mebbe kinda like Hume did.

Is Hume Establishment? Probably. But, I still think you can be Establishment and be on the right side of things. I truly believe the guy thinks for himself.

And I realize that NO ONE will see this post, but AA’s post rankled, and I felt it needed addressed.

  7. @Aunt Liz — Actually, yes, Brit Hume is considered the Walter Cronkite of Fox News and does wield that much power. And you’re right, he does think for himself, but the problem is he is an Establishment thought leader who uses his pulpit to persuade his audience based on his personal thoughts — not on facts. We rail against the likes of Soledad O’Brien, Wolf Blitzer, AC Cooper, et al, but people like Brit Hume are off limits? Why, because he’s on FNC with a better hairdo, a nicer suit, and he has all the right facial expressions and a great voice?(!)

Skeptical of Trump? He was never neutral or even fair about Trump in his reportage. Brit Hume is one of the guys who other Trump skeptics quoted — often and loudly.

(And you might look up his personal vendetta against Gingrich. I wrote Hume an email in 2012, insisting that if he was going to constantly undermine Gingrich’s campaign at least he should go full disclosure and tell his audience why he hated Gingrich and was using his national presence to scuttle him.)

I felt it needed to be addressed, too.
