I don’t question his commitment, and I don’t question his moral standing. I do however seriously question his intelligence and judgment.
In a sense, he was successful in a very specific way: he permanently interrupted the violence directed at himself because he’s dead now.
Even the BEST of intentions need to be tempered by caution and common sense.

I had an acquaintance who used to fancy himself a violence interrupter. I used to call him Sir Galahad, just to piss him off. Used to brag about how he could defuse any domestic tension going on in the apartment complex he lived in. I never heard another word after he was cold cocked by a damsel in distress. She knocked him the fuck out then when he came to told him to mind his own Goddamn business in the future.
