Donald Trump has been in second place for the last 2 months according to the Des Moines Register polls, the paper with most accurate reflection of how Iowans would vote.
In the final poll he has leapt into the lead, outside the margin of error, up 5 points on Cruz, and 13 points on Rubio.
Analysts still feel that this will be a squeaker, if Trump wins at all.
But if momentum is what candidates seek in the final hours, Trump has it.
