WaEx: Former NFL player and President Trump supporter Burgess Owens won the Republican primary in Utah’s 4th Congressional District.

Owens beat out fellow Republican state Rep. Kim Coleman, Jay Mcfarland, and Trent Christensen in the race on Tuesday, and he will face Democratic Rep. Ben McAdams in the general election this November.

“I am so grateful for all the support we’ve received. Friends from across the country, countless hours from volunteers have united behind our message of the American Dream. We are feeling good about the results we’ve seen so far, thank you for your support everyone!” Owens tweeted. more

  1. Let’s hope he doesn’t turn on President Trump like RINO Mia Love. We have way too many turncoats on our side already – think “Mittens” Romney.

  2. Great Man! I love his speeches on how the Democrat Party should pay reparations, not all of America.

I would love to see Turdeau explain his multiple blackface episodes to an African American Elected Official of the United States.

  3. Joe, MJA,
Mia is (was) out campaigning and fund raising for the some of the losers.
I was disappointed when she turned TDS and pro-open borders.
ANd Ben McAdams (D) hasn’t been that bad, but I hesitate to keep him in any longer than necessary. My idea is to keep “churning” these politicians in and out of office, don’t re-elect any of them if it can be helped. (like Mittens)

“Last July, Love said she was ready to run again if a Republican didn’t get in the race that she believed could unseat McAdams. One of her preferred candidates, state Senate Majority Whip Dan Hemmert, R-Orem, did announce a bid a month later but dropped out in December, citing concerns about the impact on his dry-cleaning business.
“That was incredibly disappointing,” Love said, especially since Hemmert had raised more than $400,000 for the race and been added to a list of the most competitive candidates in the country by the National Republican Congressional Committee.
Now, Love said she’s back to being unsure there’s a Republican candidate who can defeat McAdams.
She called former NFL player Burgess Owens a good candidate but said he’s making little progress in the polls. Other Republicans include former Utah GOP communications adviser Kathleen Anderson, state Rep. Kim Coleman, R-West Jordan, former KSL Newsradio host Jay Mcfarland and nurse practitioner Chris Biesinger.”

  4. In my opinion — McAdams was gifted the 4th Congressional District seat by the Utah GOP and state and county oligarchy as payment for services rendered as Salt Lake County Mayor. Mia Love never stood a chance. The State party leaders and the media abandoned her.

I am not a fan of Mia Love the politician. She is a nice lady, very sincere and all, and quite the conservative ideologue, but she is naive and let herself be influenced by the wrong crowd. I cringed when I voted for her in 2018. I would have preferred that she had been primaried out rather than to lose to some fake moderate Dem like McAdams.

He is a fake moderate and a fake Dem (as fake as the fake Republican Rep. from my leg. district) — he is only concerned about himself, so I guess he fits right in in Congress. He did back-room deals with the fake Republicans in the Utah Legislature (and the state and county oligarchs) with the Homeless Shelter scheme and got favorable treatment in the 2018 election.

I think Owens has a good chance at beating McAdams, but he needs a stronger presence in Salt Lake County. The Dems have been very successful in getting new, low-information voters out in Salt Lake County the last couple of elections, and presidential elections always have stronger turnouts than mid-terms.

Salt Lake County Dems always play dirty. They are experts at using the poison letter (or whatever the contemporary version is). If he has anything lurking in his closet, they will find it. If not, they will just make something up.

They are also very current as to what is trending among the Karens, in fact, they have been setting the trends lately.

He should be very wary of the State GOP and local media. If McAdams has not used up his favors, they will sabotage and abandon Owens as readily as they did Love.

I wish him luck and success. Not much more I can do for him, other than vote for him.
