General Milley skeptical of Ukraine’s prospects

RT: Ukraine’s stated objective of expelling all Russian “invaders” is unlikely to be achieved this year, General Mark Milley, chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, said in an interview on Friday. His comments came as Kiev both announced a grand spring offensive and complained about not having all the weapons needed for it.

President Vladimir Zelensky said that Ukraine’s objective is “to kick every Russian out of Russian-occupied Ukraine,” Milley told the outlet Defense One“And that is a significant military task. Very, very difficult military task.”

“I’m not saying it can’t be done,” Milley added. “I don’t think it’s likely to be done in the near term for this year.”

He qualified his words by adding that the Ukrainians “certainly have a right to that” and are “on the moral high ground.” Milley also insisted that Russia had “failed” both strategically and tactically.

This is not the first time Milley has voiced skepticism about a Ukrainian military victory. At a press conference in November, he said the probability of Kiev taking Crimea “anytime soon is not high.” more

Besides, wouldn’t his friends the Chinese want him to help things go well for Beijing’s new best buds in Moscow?

“Between 1945 and 1954, the United States sunk more than $50 million in loans into the construction of the Kandahar-Herat highway. By 1960, U.S. economic aid to Afghanistan had reached $165 million.”

  6. Tim, we were sending F-14 Tomcats to the Iranians during the mid 70’s within a couple of years after the US Navy first got them. And the Iranians still have some F-14’s in their Air Force. And we armed the Afghans against the Russians in the late 70’s under jimma carta with Stinger missiles to take down Russian helicopters along with other US military aid. After the Brits and the Russians got their asses kicked in Afghanistan we should’ve learned their lesson and stayed the hell out of that quagmire.

  7. Milley, decimated our US Military, oversaw the afghanistan surrender debacle, depleted US Armaments, funded and armed terrorists in Palestine, Armed Ukraine, sat by while our strategic Oil reserves were depleted and sold to China.
This incompetent Political appointee has hastened the decline of our National Security, Military and international standing.

This fool should be drummed out of the Army without his unearned cushy pension.
