Andrew C. McCarthy wrote a piece for NRO about the absurdity of Obama’s claim that we can incite Muslims to become jihadists.
I don’t think it’s absurd. I think Obama is right. Hear me out.
I’m a casual Christian. Let’s call it “moderate” in order to parallel the left’s language in regards to Muslims.
Is there anything that can be said, drawn, filmed or opined about Christ or Christianity that will cause me to kill other people?
Would a youtube video compel me to attack a consulate and murder the occupants?
Is there any speech whatsoever that would inspire me to join a Christian cell (are there any?) and maraud the countryside, hellbent on raping and beheading?
Of course not.
Would the most devout fundamentalist Christian, Christian extremist, if you will, kill because Christ was dunked into a pail of urine? Nope. It didn’t happen.
But Obama, and the rest of the left, says that certain speech can provoke ordinary, “moderate” Muslims to do just that. Trump’s words, for example, are characterized as “ISIS recruitment tools.” Hillary just said this.
I agree with Obama. I agree with Hillary. They are.
And this reveals the thin veneer between “moderate Muslim” and the “crazy ass, wide-eyed, savage, murderous jihadist.” It’s razor thin. The slightest slight and Syed, the nice health inspector, goes to a party and shoots everyone in sight.
Where I depart from Hillary and Barack, and the rest of the moronic left, is with the solution to this dilemma.
We don’t amend the constitution and limit free speech because we are under the Scimitar of Mohamocles, we keep muslims the hell out of our country. Simple.
