If You Have “Devastating” Docs About Potential Criminal Behavior You Release Them Now

“If they go down the presidential harassment track, if they want go and harass the president and the administration, I think that would be the best thing that would happen to me. I’m a counter-puncher and I will hit them so hard they’d never been hit like that.” – President Trump

Is this just puffery, or does the president have personal knowledge of crimes that were committed?

The NY Post reports-

The commander-in-chief said he could declassify FISA warrant applications and other documents from Robert Mueller’s probe — and predicted the disclosure would expose the FBI, the Justice Department and the Clinton campaign as being in cahoots to set him up.

“I think that would help my campaign. If they want to play tough, I will do it. They will see how devastating those pages are.”

But Trump told The Post he wanted to save the documents until they were needed.

“It’s much more powerful if I do it then,” Trump said, “because if we had done it already, it would already be yesterday’s news.”

!snip!

Am I the only contrarian who is depressed by the president’s quote?

I support the president, but potential criminal behavior is not to be used as a bargaining chip for one’s own personal use.

If there are crimes to be exposed, these are crimes committed against the entire country, not just the president, and they should be dealt with when they are discovered. This info is not to be held close to the vest, maybe never seeing the light of day depending on what deals are cut behind closed doors.

I’m getting a little sick and tired of sitting on the periphery and being told that what I’m observing is “politics” and the American citizen is merely a spectator, and we can’t do a thing about it.

In Dan Bongino’s terrific speech at The Breakers about this very topic, he concludes with the sobering comment that he doesn’t think any politicians will ever see any jail time.

Why?

  1. I agree, should have released the hounds already. Or at least release half or a quarter of it. Buuut…

If I were him, I’d wait til Mueller’s report was handed to me, and then with my response letter, I would release the redacted docs throughout the day.

Right now, strategically, if he wanted to burn the outgoing congress, well, they’re outgoing, so it would seem, to the unwashed at large, not to matter because they’re leaving. So while it would be a burn on them personally, they’re not congressmen after jan whatever, so the ‘public’ at large won’t GAS. Then there’s Christmas month coming. No one can sit still to pay attensh long enough.

Jan would be a good time. Like I said, release it with his rebuttal statement on muellers bullshit report. I don’t care which dems and which Rs get burned with it.

    Salt the earth, Donald.

The two tier justice system. Both parties are corrupt.

  3. Time and again, President Trump has proven to be wiser and wilier than the people trying to destroy him.

I don’t feel sidelined or like a mere spectator – I feel vindicated because I helped elect him. He is smarter and more clever than I am and I trust his judgment, even when I cannot always understand his moves.

  4. I said the same thing on an earlier post. These people need to be brought to justice and political leverage shouldn’t be a factor. Bring down the whole house of cards and everyone remaining will fall into compliance. The American people need to see that the rules apply to all equally or it’s all lost.

  5. @flip — Interesting. I think just the opposite. Trump excels at foreshadowing and I think he does it because it smokes out the panicked and destabilizes the Left. They’re so busy shadow boxing every contingency they make big mistakes. Winnowing the herd.

And I think that Trump will eventually release the docs. Keeping them under wraps is against everything transparent, in which he strongly believes. But you’re right, timing is everything. His timing has been impeccable.

  6. i dont understand Trumps priorities, but then i’m not a genius, i’m just a commenter on a blog. He has given the GOP a decent majority (minus romney) in the senate so we will be getting hundreds of constitutional judges i hope so maybe he is telling them he has this big hammer and justice is coming.

  7. No deal with Winnie The Xi, but MEET WITH PUTIN this weekend at the G20. PLEASE! Just watch out for Ma’ Kirchner.

This comment seems to be poor posturing, but could it just be his body language? He pulled the trigger before. Loaded and ready to fire. Get ready Five Eyes and Hellary’s Wandering Eyes.

  8. If he has evidence of wrongdoing he has an obligation to see that justice is served. To sit on it and declare that he will use it if he is harassed is outrageous and an insult to all of us that voted for him. We voted for Trump to drain the swamp, not sit on the evidence as a form of protection from harassment by the swamp.

  9. One of the most depressing parts of his quote is

“It’s much more powerful if I do it then because if we had done it already, it would already be yesterday’s news.”

He’s saying straight out that what he has is merely something we’ll all TALK about for awhile, shit that will just make some people uncomfortable until it blows over.

  10. The Donald is a 3-D Chess Master.

It would be highly inappropriate for me to sit here with my IPad and my steamy cup of tea
and presume to tell POTUS what to do.

I will always trust Trump. I will pray for him, his family and his administration.

Then I will shut the hell up and watch as he performs the job he was elected to do.

  11. I don’t think you can kill off the Deep State waiting to react to their moves. I had a great coach once that said, If your trying to decide when to go on the offensive than your already to late.
It would seem to me he has enough dirt to keep dropping little info bomb everyday for a year. That would keep it in the news cycle.
Unfortunately I think Bongino is right. None of these traitorous pieces of shit will ever see the inside of a jail cell.

  12. “… vanquish your enemies and chase them before you, to rob them of their wealth and see those dear to them bathed in tears, to ride their horses and clasp to your bosom their wives and daughters.”
    (dead Mongrel dude)

    Anything less is “negotiated settlement.”
Leaving the slime behind the wall and under the rocks to emerge later in a more virulent form is an abdication of duty.

  13. All Trump would need to do is release all the names within the documents.

Then, let them sue him for slander and defamation. What happens then. Think about it.

Rattle the tree a bit and see what falls out.

  14. He may be bluffing. On the other hand, if he really has something, he can’t do much until he gets his AG confirmed. I trust his judgement.. Even if i didn’t trust his judgement, there is nothing I could do.
