Chippewa tribal leaders Facing $27 Mil In Penalties for Embezzlement

Associated Press

Federal gaming regulators are accusing St. Croix Chippewa tribal leaders of pocketing at least $1.5 million in casino funds with little or no documentation or receipts.

The National Indian Gaming Commission’s Notice of Violation issued this month says the St. Croix Casino Turtle Lake issued 275 payments to seven tribal members totaling $562,246 from 2015 to 2017. The Journal Sentinel reported Friday that the commission lists a total of 527 violations of federal and tribal ordinances.

Regulators say some of the funds were used for trips to Hawaii and Las Vegas. The regulators say in some cases the only description and documentation for disbursing the funds were the words “travel” or “consulting fees.” More

  1. You have to be pretty stupid to embezzle money from a casino. You are supposed to “skim”. It’s much harder to get caught. Why do they think the mafia was in the “legal” gaming business for so long?

  2. They damn well should get the book thrown at them. I have quite a few friends who are Tribal members and there is a constant problem with graft among Tribal elders. One of the guys who is from a western Washington Tribe told me that the big problem is that the ones that promise the most free shit are the only ones that get voted in.

  3. Gee, that “All Indians are Noble” meme, like that “All Moslems are Good” meme, and that “All Faggots are Smart Dressers” meme, and that “All Negroes are Heroic Victims” meme, and that “Wise Latina” meme, and that “Socialists are Compassionate” meme, and all those other (blah, blah, blah, ad nauseam) stereotypical fantasies may just be BULLSHIT!

Seems a “tribal leader” can be as corrupt and cynical as your run-of-the-mill Demonrat!
