I’ve never driven a big truck, but wouldn’t the dump bed being up like that change the dynamics of driving?
My pickup drives differently with the windows down as opposed to up.

If their had been a healthy curve before the overpass he might not have hit it.

Seems like in this day and age there should be a sensor to detect and report that, and maybe even not allow the truck to move like that under normal circumstances.
I wonder if something like that was overridden…

Who’s stupider, the guy driving with the dump bed up, or the guy filming it, knowing the disaster was imminent, but continued full speed ahead into the debris field.

If the truck identified as a truck without a trailer in dump position this whole incident could be avoided.

Why was the dump bed up if it was full of material? It’s only raised to empty it.

Toenex, don’t be so quick to blame the Mexican. It could have been a Somali or an Afghani.
And SNS, totally agree. Howinhell is that not failsafed? And I could sort of see how a bed could be accidentally left up AFTER THE LOAD was dumped, but wouldn’t that get noticed before the driver leaves the site? WTH.
