It’s too cold to breathe in Iowa

Breitbart: Iowa Forecasters Warn Against Breathing Outside Amid Deep Freeze.

Winter’s sharpest bite in years moved past painful into life-threatening territory Tuesday, prompting officials throughout the Midwest to take extraordinary measures to protect the homeless and other vulnerable people from the bitter cold.

Temperatures plunged as low as minus 26 in North Dakota with wind chills as low as minus 62 in Minnesota. It was nearly that cold in Wisconsin and Illinois. Governors in Wisconsin, Illinois and Michigan declared emergencies as the worst of the cold threatened on Wednesday.

The bitter cold is the result of a split in the polar vortex that allowed temperatures to plunge much further south in North America than normal.  more here

  1. Uh Oh. No hope for Idiots Out Walking Around.

Mom was born in Iowa. In the early 70’s we did the big family trip back to find the old homestead. Bought up by a big cooperate farm a long time ago. But the original homestead was still barely standing. Quite the emotional moment. Some things are just best left in the past.

  2. This is so much bullshit. Last week, the first of these cold snaps came through Minnesota. Up north temps were -30 to -40. And you know what, no records were broken. Maybe that’s proof of global warming.

  3. BB,
I used to challenge the old cliche
“You can never go back home” until I did.
The pristine beauty of the “Low Country”
was gone. There were houses and condos all
nestled along the winding tidal creeks lined with
500 year old live oaks dripping with Spanish Moss.
I asked about the monster single select “turkey paw”
oysters me and my buds used pull up with a garden rake
in Feb. were? Oh they all died from the run off from people’s yards…
