Jeff Sessions Will Be The New Attorney General

Trump chooses Sen. Jeff Sessions for attorney general, Rep. Mike Pompeo for CIA director

Wapo

President-elect Donald Trump announced Friday that he plans to nominate Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.) as attorney general and Rep. Mike Pompeo (R-Kan.) as CIA director, the first selections to his Cabinet as his transition continues to build momentum.

Trump also confirmed that he has selected retired Lt. Gen. Michael T. Flynn as his national security adviser, news that had been reported a day earlier.

“The president-elect is a man of action, and we’ve got a great number of men and women with great qualifications look forward to serving in this administration, and I am just humbled to be a part of it,” Vice President-elect Mike Pence told reporters in New York. “Our agency teams arrived in Washington D.C. this morning, and I am very confident it will be a smooth transition that will serve to lead this country forward.”

In a statement, Trump called Sessions one of his most trusted campaign advisers and cited his “world-class legal mind.”

wiki- In a 2013 speech on the House floor, Pompeo said Muslim leaders who fail to denounce acts of terrorism done in the name of Islam are “potentially complicit” in the attacks.[47] The Council on American-Islamic Relations called on Pompeo to revise his remarks, calling them “false and irresponsible”.[48]

  1. Rudy for State still puzzles me–his “foreign policy” chops that I recall amounted to not allowing Arafat and his camel humping goons attend a NY Philharmonic concert at Lincoln Center that the city held for diplomats of the UN during its opening, way back when.
I would have preferred him at DOJ, but hey, the Donald isn’t ringing my phone off the hook for advice.
    Sessions works for me, though.

  2. Sessions is an EXCELLENT choice. Former US attorney who’s a straight-shooter and a law and order guy. Been a while since we’ve had one like that as the AG.

Good luck Jeff, cleaning out that leftist rat’s nest.

  3. Trey Gowdy, while a great lawyer and member of the House, comes across as a bit of a publicity hound, and we have all heard his “I WORK FOR A BLINDFOLDED WOMAN WITH A SET OF SCALES” comments many times. Perhaps the President Elect thought Trey is better in the House doing what he does so well, and getting a bit more seasoning. In time he will surely move up the ranks.

  4. Wow, it only took Huffpoo a few minutes to throw it’s poo poo about Sessions in the hopper, and they’re among the top five ‘hits’ on Bing search “Sessions.”

Thirty years ago Sessions made some comments that were deemed racist to some on the left.

I am having such a great time listening to all the shrieking, wailing, moaning, and whining. I keep thinking of that woman in the video (at IOTWr) talking about their ‘poster war.’

  5. I just heard on FOX News Trump would like to make Gen. James “Mad Dog” Mattis Secretary of Defense! That should make the muzzie grab their goats and run for the caves!

  6. Sessions was my first choice to run for President. I would hate to lose him in the Senate w/ a 52-48 margin. Just hope the Gov of AL has a worthy replacement in mind.

  7. Never really looked into him until now. I’ve been told he has a lot of hate but surprise, I can’t find anything to back it up.

In the final analysis, as long as he prosecutes Hillary it will all be good.

    Lock her up!

  8. I don’t know enough about Sessions to have an opinion. Would he start by investigating the actions of the DOJ over the past few years and restart the Clinton email investigation. I really think that’s critical to restoring faith not only in the department but in the political system as a whole. Clinton can’t be seen to merely walk away from all the criminal activity she’s committed or had a hand in over the years simply because she’s retiring.

  9. The hardest part of the transition is choosing from such a wide field of excellence.

I just want our R controlled government to hit the ground running and not give the left a chance to catch their breath.

  10. @ Abigail
That was excellent. Trump: “This is why the country has gotten into so much trouble”. I commented over at Brietbart that anybody who second guesses Trump at this point just makes me laugh. He doesn’t make his picks to appease the left or the right. He selects based on qualifications and he has a moral center and he sticks to it.
