A Kentucky hunter took home an unusual trophy last week, a buck with a second head caught in its rack. The other animal had deteriorated considerably but was clearly another buck that had became entwined when the antlers of the two animals locked together in combat. More

“It’s just a flesh wound”….
Did anyone else see this in the comments under the story?
That’s how my head felt during the Obama Administration.
But, your head’s off! No tisn’t.
@grayjohn – Another Monty Python fan! Well done!
Ditto, Monty Python fan!
“As he bravely ran away!”
I don’t believe this. Of the stories I have heard about bucks’ antlers entangling during battle, none have resulted in something like this. Most are found with both dead, or one being dead and the other barely alive.
There is no way this living buck could have survived until that head broke free from the body. I bet, in his hormonal rage that occurs during the rut, the living buck tried to fight an already dead carcass and the head broke free from the deteriorated body.
Wonder where this falls on the Boone & Crockett score?
I wonder if a European swallow could have carried that head…
BOLO BOGO BAGGER
@Uncle Al
What do you mean? An African or European swallow?
He may have won the battle, but I doubt he could get any doe to mate with him with that thing hanging from his antlers; yech!
I’d read somewhere that the hunter had been on his way to the barber for a shave and a haircut.
there’s a ‘Foreign Entanglement’ metaphor in there somewhere …
@Jethro,
Wrong!
Fairly frequently one buck will paw and shred the dead buck’s neck and rip the head off and carry it around.
@JDHasty
Like I said – the stories I have been told are counter to this.
I even found two dead carcasses locked together the following spring. Even many of the experts quoted in the stories didn’t believe it.
Do deer conceive of concealed or open carry?
Two heads are better than one…
@Uncle Al & King Arthur, is the swallow laden or unladen?

It’s a laden European swallow.
Which reminds me: When’s the spanking?
And after the spanking, oral sex?
(Sorry, but I’m trying to get in touch with my inner dirty old man.)
One of my friends got slapped silly by one of the ex Catholic girls in our church when he referenced that scene to her from Monty Python and The Holy Grail. She was not amused.
