U.S. House member Tom Marino (R-PA) had been under consideration to become the next drug czar for the Trump Administration, that was until a slanted hit piece aired on 60 Minutes Sunday night along with a related feature in the Washington Post. Now the congressman has withdrawn his name from consideration.
I commented on the bias of the reporting on our post on the original story Sunday. In my opinion the reports try to hang representative Marino and Blackburn for a piece of legislation they campaigned and finally saw passed into law with Obama’s signature in late 2016. The legislation is reputed to tie the hands of the DEA in its effort to curb the Opioid epidemic. An epidemic that’s been on going for 20 years, before the legislation became law and the Obama Administration had 8 years to address.
No more czars, please.
PDT should just abolish the position. Czarism is swampy. Always has been.
And if we must have a drug czar, find somebody outside Congress. We don’t need another special election right now.
Is Cheech or Chong available?
PHenry, too bad Hunter S. Thompson killed himself.
@thirdtwin
Didn’t Thompson have his ashes shot out of a cannon?
I need to look that up.
Yep. Right about Thompson. Ceremony to shoot him out of a cannon was funded by Johnny Depp. Attended by Sen John Kerry and Jack Nicholson.
Obviously the Russians are behind this, too. They don’t like Czars.
Shot the last one in 1918.
They should call whomever is in charge “the kingpin’.
