MN food bank CEO steps down: lawmakers question $721K salary

That Seems a Bit Excessive

The Towers News

Minnesota’s hunger crisis is growing—and apparently so is the appetite for big executive pay at one of the state’s top food nonprofits.

Allison O’Toole, CEO of Second Harvest Heartland, earned $721,000 in total compensation in 2022—even as the nonprofit has lobbied for taxpayer funding and warned of rising hunger across Minnesota, where 26% of households with children are food insecure, according to its own research.

Now, as O’Toole steps down after six years at the helm, lawmakers are raising questions.

  1. Legislators are only now raising questions?! The head of a food bank (even a large one) warrants a salary that is nearly twice that of the guy with the nuclear football? Yes, please, do tell how that is justified. We’re listening.

  2. The problem is ALWAYS the role of monies STOLEN FROM TAXPAYERS. A fully privately-funded charity would face far more scrutiny, and would face immediate public response to their failure and abuse of donations in this manner. But here we have government not only destroying the economy, thus worsening the homeless problem, but then STEALING the wealth of those in the productive sector to hand to these criminals.

  3. Anyone accepting such a huge salary for supposedly humanitarian purposes is hardly working in the altruistic spirit such organizations are supposed to reflect. I’d like to know her qualifications, credentials and value to the organization. Does she add that much value or is she a product of nepotism or guilty of laundering money for others? There’s more to this story than is being told.

So the law is paralyzed, and justice never goes forth. For the wicked surround the righteous; so justice goes forth perverted.

At least I have the comfort of knowing they no longer get one cent of my money.

AND WHERE’S THE OFFENDED FACE OF THE LEFT??

    BURNING TESLAS

ONE OF THE BIGGEST CHALLENGES OF THE FREAKS IS THAT, BECAUSE OF LINING UP BEHIND SO MANY FECKLESS, EMPTY SUITS, THEY CANNOT RECOGNIZE OR APPRECIATE TRUE LEADERSHIP

THEY GO WITH THE CARTERS, THE CLINTONS, THE CHAMBERLAINS, CHOEKER BIDEN, CAMELTOE HARRIS, AND TURN AWAY FROM STRENGTH AND PROSPERITY

  6. Okay, annual budget $720M, “helping” 500000 persons per month, or about $120/person/month.

Tell me again where the fx’ng USDA food stamp money is going?!

  7. The old leftist ethos, to paraphrase, cribbed from a turn of the last century occultist and charlatan: do as you will shall be the whole of the law.
Stealing is fine for the leftist if that is what he/she/it/zir zimmy dum dum wants to do. If no one stops it then it was meant to be done. This applies in every case at all times. The colored ‘youth’ who stabbed the kid at the tournament? If he gets away with it, under the principle of the left, he was right to do it. They are ALL, without exception, EVIL.
