YardBarker: The NFL is finally stepping up and paying the piper after the public became aware of a little-known scandal surrounding the league in previous seasons.
It was reported last year that the NFL charged the United States Military for taking part in acts of patriotism during and prior to games in the three seasons leading up to the 2015 campaign.
Facing a ton of pressure from the government and fans alike, the league has decided to pay taxpayers back with a grand total of over $700,000.
This pales in comparison to the amount of money the Department of Defense (DOD) apparently paid out to NFL teams for “sponsored patriotism” over multiple seasons. more

Goodell…you’re fired.
To paralhrase an old lefty trope:
“It will be a great day when the military has all the equipment it needs, and the NFL is forced to hold a bake sale to build a stadium.”
The NFL is a “Not for Profit” entity.
Multi-million dollar salaries for players, coaches and staff, billion dollar stadiums, tax abatements, state and federal taxpayer grants, hugely over priced food, drinks, tickets and sales from trade marked apparel.
Not for profit? And they charge the government $7 million for carrying flags during the National Anthem, Jet flyovers, parachutists and halftime shows?
The NFL is NOT a not-for-profit business. The states and federal government should stop taking free tickets to the games and treat the NFL as what they are, a business steeped in huge profits, owned by multi-millionaires who pay minimal taxes.
The favoritism and cronyism the NFL enjoys must stop.
It’s not a scandal. It’s advertising. The military does it voluntarily because they think it gets them new recruits. It is part of the recruiting budget, just like NASCAR sponsorship.
Since the government mavens are so so good at inventing new ways to tax how about levying a patriotic tax on the NFL in the amount of 90% of resources! Instead of the taxpayer’s building them stadiums and other bling they could build us tanks and fighter jets!

Football industry isn’t going to change until the NFL has a quota for transgender players.

Unfortunately, something tells me that military presence (advertising) at NFL games will now dramatically decrease. We should boycott until the military is invited to every game (free) and the NFL pays their travel expenses.

My question is why DoD would ever agree to pay for this, other than they don’t care because it’s “other people’s money.”

Taxpayers just keep on getting fucked.
And they (we) seem to be OK with it – it wobbles the mind.
