Girl Scout sells cookies outside of Portland pot shop: “It’s not against the rules”

Via KOMOTV Seattle —PORTLAND, Ore. (KATU) — A Girl Scout is selling boxes of cookies outside of a Portland pot shop Saturday, hoping to raise money for a summer trip to horse camp.

She was selling under the supervision of her aunt, who said they came up with the idea of selling outside Foster Buds Marijuana Dispensary.

The aunt said they had several customers within minutes of setting up their table.

“The Girl Scouts organization said they don’t condone this, but it’s not against the rules,” she said.

An employee at the shop said it was great to partner with the kids and help them reach their sales goals.

The girl scout had a goal of selling 35 boxes, and said she expected to exceed that by the time they left.

“It seems like people are happy we’re here,” she said.

A spokesperson from the Girl Scouts of Oregon and Southwest Washington said they “recommend that if a minor cannot enter a premises unaccompanied, she should not sell Girl Scout Cookies in front of the premises.

  1. As a Northwesterner I’m embarrassed for us. Sure, that is a good place to sell cookies, but these are Girl Scouts…..do you think 50% of us know the difference between right and wrong anymore?

  2. @mortgages – I wouldn’t leave her alone and unguarded, but other than that I’d be fine with this. What else are those Portland trust-fund hippies going to blow their daddy’s money on?

  3. Far out man! Next she should get a large bag of 2 for$1 Jack In The Box tacos and some bags of Doritoes and sell those as well. She’d be quite the hit. Gotta give her credit for being an entrepreneur, having said that I hope she has some backup from her parents to ward off the thieves and the creeps
