Astronomers were excited yesterday with the announced discovery of two Wolf-Rayet stars circling each other at incredible speeds. Found in our own galaxy, one of the stars named Apep is expected to be ripped apart and explode in an event almost as energetic as the Big Bang itself. Observers are speculating that if the star does super nova it would release a deadly gamma ray burst that if it were directed toward us, would blow apart our atmosphere even though Apep is 8,000 light years away. “…an event almost as energetic as the Big Bang itself.”
Uhh, no. Stellar masses, even super stellar masses are a pimple on the ass of the energies that gave birth to particles that posses mass.
I wonder how long we will have to live to actually see this happen. It would be awesome.
@joe6pak
8000 years, if it happens right now. But it’s all horseshit anyway in my scientific opinion. 😉
Machloja, I’m hoping it happened 7999 years and 364 days ago, and we are about to finally see it.
“If the Earth did happen to be in the path of such a phenomenon, it could deplete the ozone layer and expose the planet to high doses of radiation. In the most unfortunate circumstances, this could trigger widespread extinction.”
Look at the bright side, if you have solar panels you can die knowing there is a renewable energy source.

so i wont have to microwave my lunch that day?
Does it come with a SMOD?
Ok, let’s see it.
Also know as when hell freeze over.

Maybe this is that ‘code’ talk the rabid left talks about. Sounds like the GOP and Demoncrats. Replace Apep with Demoncrats and the similarity is striking.
Balderdash, sensationalism, distraction.
Climate change. If we establish a carbon tax now, this won’t happen.
Perhaps this is what will finally resolve the crisis in the Catholic Church.
