There are reasons to be afraid.

  1. No need to worry there is, according to Pew Research, an outflux of people to Mexico. And that supposed out flux only includes those with US jobs, children in our schools, and patients in our emergency rooms.

  2. Years ago, I flew out of JFK fairly often. It was inevitable that my flight from the South would arrive hours early for an international connection. I would normally head for the bar closest to my departure gate and have a few drinks to prepare self medicate for the mid-length flight. I had tipped the bartender (she was cute, personable and had a wonderful rear view) well and asked her where I could sneak a smoke. She propped open the fire exit door (no alarm sounded) and I stepped outside to have a cigarette. I was overlooking 747’s from all over the world and could have walked down to the tarmac and no one would have known. JFK has been a dysfunctional operation for years.
