I own one of those Ruger Standard Mark I .22 pistols. In the 80’s, a friend and I hiked into Angelina National Forest along the Neches River to a place called Rocky Shoals. We came across a group of guys on the bluff above the river shooting an H&R .22 six shooter with an 18″ barrel. They had thrown a wine bottle into the river and were trying to hit it as it floated downstream. None of were coming close to hitting it, even with the 18″ barrel. They claimed the gun was garbage. I offered up my Ruger to one of the guys to try. He started shooting and didn’t do any better. He said my Ruger must not have good sights either. When he gave me back my pistol, it had one more round in the ten-round magazine. He told me to try hitting the bottle with it. I took aim at the bottle that had drifted about 75 yards downstream and fired. I busted that bottle to pieces and calmly said that the sights were right on. They looked at me like I was a god and couldn’t stop talking about the shot I made. It was a good day. As we departed, I heard them saying they were going to get a Ruger Standard Mark I. I’m not sure that would have done the trick. I practiced a lot.
Starts off with the Ruger .22?
Nice pistol, but wtf?
Check out the Noreen BN-36 Assassin in .30-06.
