Remember the manhunt for the two white males and the black male who allegedly shot and killed the Illinois police officer who was on foot pursuit?
Today’s press conference is expected to confirm some rumors that have been swirling around. The case is expected to be ruled a “complex suicide.”
The officer had been accused of stealing public funds and was in the process of looking for a new job when, authorities say, he chose to make it look like he died in the line of duty.
NY DAILY NEWS has the story. More here
This has been swirling for a while now. If it’s true, this is really awful on so many levels.
Wasn’t it originally reported he was killed with a shot gun and his duty weapon was found quite a distance from his body? Or am I miss remembering?
Just what this broke state needs. A months long super expensive wild goose chase.
The town he worked for is a crooked little place. It’s the epicenter of a region known as The Chain, short for the Chain of Lakes, and it’s like The White Trash Riviera of sorts. If you like boose, boats, booze, snowmobiles, booze, semi naked Middle aged people, booze, and smoking, this is the place for you.
I suspected foul play immediately knowing where the story eminated from. There’s a lot of shenanigans in those parts.
There was a lot of misreports on this incident. I heard a lot on the scanner in the first few minutes, so much so that I spent all day listening. On another forum, suicide was speculated within days of the incident, it appeared to come with some credibility from internally.

Hey I like all those things except smoking, would it still be the place for me?
Sad. Caught in his own trap (stealing money) and suicide was the only way out (trying to steal more money for his widow).Still, I can appreciate some of his anguish.
Ah… Chicago! What a town!
