And now it’s gone. Disappeared. Ffft!
No, not snowfall but One of the longest running climate prediction blunders.
WUWT: Readers of WUWT and millions of climate skeptics have read this article before, and in fact it is likely one of the most cited articles ever that illustrates the chutzpah and sheer hubris on display from a climate scientist who was so certain he could predict the future with certainty. Dr. David Viner of the Climatic Research Unit who famously said:
From the Independent’s most cited article: Snowfalls are now just a thing of the past by Charles Onians:
However, the warming is so far manifesting itself more in winters which are less cold than in much hotter summers. According to Dr David Viner, a senior research scientist at the climatic research unit (CRU) of the University of East Anglia, within a few years winter snowfall will become “a very rare and exciting event”.
“Children just aren’t going to know what snow is,” he said.
It seems however, that after over 15 years, the Independent has removed that article, and the URL now comes up like this:
When are we going to start rounding up and jailing Global Cooling Skeptics and Climate Chilling Deniers?
Prisoner #1 should be alGore
I remember weeping as a child at the idea that there will be no more swimming in the midwest summers, because of global cooling. Climate change is the snake oil of our generation.
That’s what makes me sick. Messing with kids’ heads by lying to them and scaring them about nothing! It’s disgusting.
“Give me a child to age 7, and I’ll give you a lifelong Communist.”

We live in the snowbelt of Ohio. Lots of lake effect snow.
I haven’t noticed a dang bit of decrease since we moved here almost 4 decades ago.
These jerks need to be tied up, planted face down in drainage ditches and have the nonexistent snowfall and the record warming minus 30 or 40 windchills fix their thinking.
I sometimes wonder if these climate change anal warts cut their teeth on the so-called “fuel shortages” of the mid 70s!
Well, that’s a relief – no more shoveling off my driveway. Now what, exactly, did I get stuck in last January?
“However, the warming is so far manifesting itself more in winters which are less cold than in much hotter summers.”
Yeah…no, wait…what?
When we had the extreme cold weather the last few winters, we were told it was because globull warming had caused the polar vortex, or some such nonsense. Now they say the opposite.
