SPACEX SUPPLY ROCKET BLOWS UP ON ELON MUSK’S BIRTHDAY

BigGovernment-

AP) An unmanned SpaceX rocket carrying supplies and a first-of-its-kind docking port to the International Space Station broke apart Sunday shortly after liftoff. It was a severe blow to NASA, still reeling from previous failed shipments.

The accident happened about 2 1/2 minutes into the flight from Cape Canaveral, Florida. A billowing white cloud emerged in the sky, growing bigger and bigger, then fiery plumes shot out of where the rocket was supposed to be, and pieces could be seen falling into the Atlantic. More than 5,200 pounds of space station cargo were on board, including the first docking port designed for future commercial crew capsules.

“We appear to have had a launch vehicle failure,” announced NASA commentator George Diller. Data stopped flowing from the Falcon 9 rocket around 2 minutes and 19 seconds, he said. No astronauts were on board.

The rocket shattered while traveling at 2,900 mph, about 27 miles up. Everything appeared to go well in the flight until the rocket went supersonic.

  1. why are so many people enamored with Elon Musk? If it weren’t for government bailouts of failure after failure, he would be living under a highway overpass…

  2. I liked the augmented reality technology they had onboard. It is a setback to see this fail, as astronauts could have taken advantage of near time work with ground crews. The head was blasting out O2.. IMHO an overload of O2. Would have loved to see the landing of the main too, 8 merlins. Awesome stuff.

  3. Yeah but, still… It’s 0bama’s people that are in charge of it. Maybe when a handful of grownups come back into the game it’ll be better.

  4. Throw rockets in the sky all year long, make 364 out of 365 a failure. As long as no one is dead by this and someone finds a success, heck, I’m all in for spending 0’s money. The grownups will buy it pennies on the dollar.

  5. This really is rocket science and it really is hard to do. It appears that the second stage LOX tank over-pressured and failed somehow.

Someone other than NASA has to do these things and SpaceX is a lot more than just Elon Musk.

  6. The root problem is that the rocket was made of 10 Tesla’s welded together and stood on their end and attached to a giant rocket manufactured from fertilizer and government money. The sub-contractors that Space-X is using is the ACME Company whose chief designer is named Wile E. Coyote. After the unsuccessful launch Elon Musk was unavailable for comment as he was in Washington arranging for another government contract.
