The Highest-Paid Public Employee in Your State Is Probably a Football or Basketball Coach

CNS: A college football or basketball coach was the highest-paid public employee in 39 of the 50 states in 2016. Only four of these coaches earned less than a million dollars last year.

In fact, the average annual compensation package for coaches at major universities is estimated to be $1.18 million.

When the top-paid public employee in a state is not the coach of a college sports team, he or she usually works in the medical field at a university-run hospital or is the head of a university or college.

Here are the top ten coaches who are the highest-paid public employees in their respective states, as reported by ESPN.com:

    Former gym teachers are making 6 figure pensions in my state with severely underfunded pension funding.

  3. Never was a fan of any sports. 90% of the players have trouble putting a coherent string of words into a meaningful sentence. Sad, very sad. You know! 😂

  4. College football is unconstitutional. It violates the principle of the separation church and state.
