The Paralympics ARE Tough to Watch

Trump is getting heat from dipchitz who lay in wait to outraged at whatever they can shoehorn into somewhat believable outrage.

This time it’s a remark the president made about the Paralympics. He said, although filled with brave and heroic athletes, they are tough to watch.

IT IS!

I find it difficult to watch people strapped in their wheelchairs going way too fast and then going ass over tea kettle. Is the guy with no feeling from the belly button down going for no feeling from the Adam’s apple down? You know, they’re not immune to breaking their necks.

We had a friend in high school who became a paraplegic after a work accident. He pitched a game of softball for us and wouldn’t you know it, some gorilla piped one straight back to him and hit him in the knee.

I didn’t want to play anymore.

So this outrage at Trump is simply another case of seeking something to bitch about.

Besides, it’s not like Trump said  he bowls like a special Olympian.

  1. Yeah, I agree. It’s tough to watch without choking up, really.
They’re actually good at what they do in their position, and some of them were able to do sports before injury. So yeah, I agree. It’s tough because you want them to be normal bodied so they could compete with everyone else. I didn’t see it as an insult. But as Trump witnessing their bravery and their efforts and how they got there.

Trump is not a millionaire who drinks tea with his pinky up. He speaks with a sledgehammer. It isn’t always going to sound eloquent. But that’s who I voted for and will do it again.

  2. The difficulty in many cases is realizing how the individual became disabled.
Genetics, vehicle accident, diving, a fall, amputee from cancer or disabled by hostile actions fighting terrorism.
It is difficult to visualize and understand their traumatic experience, how and why a disability occurs.
    I call it empathy.

  3. The St. Jude’s commercial where the sweet little girl with the bandana covering her baldness from cancer, so matter of factly says; “when your counts are low, you have to wear a mask and stuff”. That gets to me. Kids and animals are not suppose to get sick, but they are so amazing and strong, stronger than me I think. It is emotional to watch, but also inspiring to see how resilient children and animals given a tough break in life are.

  4. Compassionate people will find difficulties watching Paralympics. It’s a fact or their not as caring as they think they are.
But, as always, the perpetually offended try to make an issue out of every word that comes out of DJT’s mouth. The more they try these type of denigration tactics the less effective they are.
