Canada: Vancouver Gas Prices Nearing $8 A Gallon

DC: Want to fill up in Vancouver, British Columbia? It’ll cost you — a lot.

Gas prices surged to $160.9 a liter Sunday morning — almost $8 a gallon in USD.

Former Liberal Member of Parliament Dan McTeague, who now heads the petroleum industry watchdog GasBuddy.com, told CBC News that Vancouver has the dubious honor of having the highest gas prices anywhere in North America, from Alaska to Mexico.

“These are the highest prices that we have ever seen here in Vancouver,” he said. “We’re into uncharted territory here and extremely expensive for pretty much everyone.”

Although McTeague says the price spike has its roots in a low Canadian dollar and refinery breakdowns, Vancouver was one of the first cities in Canada to proudly unveil a carbon tax that has continued to escalate year after year.  more here

  1. Gasbuddy.com says the avg price in California is $3.595/gal while where I live it is $2.30/gal. Quite the difference government greed makes in the price people pay.

  2. So happy they have implement a Carbon Tax to slow and hopefully reverse Climate Change™.
The carbon dioxide was so bad this morning it hurt my fingernails ! But then I got a bottle of organic water at Whole Foods and it calmed me down faster than a session of yoga with my goat.

  3. What would you expect from a country led by soy boy Trudie full of lunatic green weenie heads who fight any form of energy production at every turn. Serves em right.

  4. In 2011, I was traveling through England by car. Diesel was the equivalent of $9.35 per US gallon. Good thing England is one of those puny European countries that you can cross very quickly.

  5. A big piece of the problem is the provincial governments of BC and Alberta fighting over pipelines (and the natives sticking their noses in financed by that fraud artist Tom Steyer) as well as having a weak Prime Minister that hasn’t a real clue on how to govern. Oh, and you can bet the “carbon tax” is disappearing into general revenue but none of the hippies in BC will bitch about it until it really smacks their wallet.

No wonder the poor fukkin Canuks are saddled with that Trudeau jerkoff – they’re innumerate (and probably a tad retarded).

    Maths is hard.

Dick Head is a bloody limey!

Once I got to $160.90 Per litre I stopped trusting anything else the article had to say.

    > We are headed in the same direction if congress continues to spend (borrow) TRILLIONS of dollars we don’t have.

Who is this “we” you write of? I know I’m not a made member of “your” club. If your brothers in crime decide it’s time to strike a match… well… that’s between you and them.
