CARACAS (Reuters) – As a harrowing economic crisis makes food scarce for millions of Venezuelans, many families cannot buy their children Christmas presents, decorate their home, or even host a holiday dinner.

The oil-rich country is suffering the third year of a recession that has sparked product shortages and galloping inflation. With a recent currency depreciation pumping up prices even higher, some parents are simply canceling Christmas.

“Last year I bought everything for my daughter,” said Dileida Palacios, a 40-year-old hairdresser dressed in black to mourn her son killed in crime-rife Venezuela a few weeks ago.

“This year I had to tell her everything is tough and Santa Claus isn’t coming.”  more here

  1. A regressive liberal’s paradise! Well, only if they are sitting in the inner political circle looking down on the masses.

Detroit and many other liberal run-down cities would be right there if Hillary had 8 years to institute her Venezuela type policies.

  2. Boy – did we escape that certain future by the skin of our teeth!!! Every prog who tried/tries to undermine Trump’s presidency should be evacuated to Venezuela so they can experience their “utopia” first hand.

  3. Since Hugo did such a fine job cutting the balls off the army so he wouldn’t fear a coup maybe it’s time Colombia and Brazil to intervene and stop the population from starving to death.
