Ranked the 15th most expensive college in the nation, Pitzer College in Claremont, California is also home to numerous murals painted by its students.
The one being painted above by student Selena Spier was attacked for being insensitive to the “My Black Mental and Emotional Health Matters” of sophomore Gregory Ochiagha.
He complained because apparently the image of flowers coming out of the barrel of a poorly sketched hand gun “is emotionally triggering.”
So how did the artist response? By agreeing to modify the work to appease critic.
Why incorporate a gun in your mural in the first place if you’re unwilling to defend your artistic choice? Your being bullied so your critic can broadcast his virtue at the expensive of your artistic work.
Maybe she should paint the flowers coming out of Michael Brown’s butt. Wouldn’t that be an even more virtuous image?
Balls,
People wonder if we are alone in the universe.
We Are.
There are no more advanced societies.
They all succumb tho this endless offended state of being, running around looking for shit to whine about, and “start Conversations” and “Raise Awareness” until the Universe can’t stand that society anymore and sends a rocky body to wipe out the insufferable pricks
In order to rationally criticize something,
one must understand its function.
Look at the drawing. Then you can ignore
both the so called artist and the poor job.
Art is SUPPOSED to trigger an emotional response.
