Why The Buckhead Neighborhood Wants To Secede From Atlanta

Text From Tucker Carlson Tonight

Ever been to Buckhead in Atlanta? It’s a beautiful residential and commercial neighborhood in the northwest corner of the city. It’s not a huge place. Fewer than 80,000 people live there, but it’s fair to say that, without Buckhead, Atlanta, at least as it’s currently run, could not exist. Taxes from Buckhead residents account for fully a fifth of Atlanta’s entire city budget. You’d think the people who run the city would be very polite to Buckhead. They certainly should be. But the opposite is true. For decades, various mayors of Atlanta have attacked Buckhead, as if there’s something offensive or immoral about maintaining a clean and orderly neighborhood. For the most part, the residents of Buckhead have taken this abuse in silence. Complaining seemed impolite. So they’ve continued to send huge amounts of money to a city government that hates them. For politicians in Atlanta, it’s been a very good deal—attack Buckhead and take the dough. But that deal could soon be ending. More

  1. Unkie – unless attitudes have changed a lot recently, most people in Buckhead always seemed to think they were above having to resort to violence to protect themselves. I used to work in downtown Atlanta less than 20 years ago) in an office tower that had a MARTA train station underneath it. Buckhead was THE place to go for high end restaurants and upscale shopping.

You didn’t want to be anywhere in the downtown Atlanta area after dark and not much even in broad daylight due to the rampant crime (there were a few areas that were ok, but you had to know which ones). If you needed to shop for upscale items, Lenox Square Mall was the nearest and safest place to go.

Although the whole metro area (including what used to be considered suburbs) has gradually degraded over the years, I suspect the lock downs for the china virus did away with a lot of the easy marks from the office buildings downtown – many times it was an adventure to walk to your car after work between pan handlers and crazy people confronting you. This likely encouraged the thugs to head out to Buckhead on MARTA where there was more money concentrated and nicer homes / businesses to rob.

I hope they can get things under control in Buckhead, not that I’ll ever likely go back though.

  2. @Bubba’ Bro ~ I’m sure you know what MARTA stands for … ’nuff said
& I hear you about the areas in ‘Lanta that you didn’t let the sun set on ya. certain areas you didn’t even want to be stopped at traffic lights too long.

my stepmother worked at Lenox Square after my dad died … went to lunch w/ her several times there while staying at the W. Buckhead was a nice upscale area at the time … still is … for now

a lot of Atlanta Hawk & Falcon players have abodes there too.
… wonder how they feel about the rampant crime now infesting the area?

  3. I grew up in the 50’s and 60’s right down the road from Buckhead in what is now called Brookhaven. It turns my stomach and saddens my heart to see what has become of Atlanta.

  4. Back in the 70s in my home town, an affluent township in the suburbs was forced to merge with the inner city. A large corporation forced it on the people by threatening to move otherwise. They felt it would strengthen the city.

    It’s been shitsville ever since.

  5. Blacks have controlled Atlanta for decades and the attitude toward Buckhead is a manifestation of the resentment they feel toward the middle and upper middle class living in that community, especially the white ones!

  6. The Governor’s Mansion is smack dab in the middle of Buckhead. There’s no way Buckhead gets to secede without a decades-long fight. Especially if GA gets saddled with a black Democrat Governor, which is not oht of the realm of possibility in this era of voter fraud.

It took more than twenty years for the cities of Milton, John’s Creek and Sandy Springs to tearcaway from Fulton County, The black establishment, allied with Buckhead noblesse obligees and Atlanta media, fought those cities tooth and nail to keep their taxpayer tethered to Fulton County. Buckhead power brokers are as woke as they come. Stew in the mess you created, Tuxedo Roadsters.

I grew up just on the other side of the Southern Railroad tracks from y’all. I worked at Lenox Square Mall in the early 80’s when y’all brought in the MARTA train, and I watched the trash that rode in on it begin the destruction of your precious community, as well as my community. I drove through my old stomping grounds just yesterday, and I saw BLACK LIVES MATTER signs in the front yards of the new McMansions in Brookhaven. Good luck with that, idiots. You are screwed.

  7. This crap didn’t just start yesterday, or even in Buckhead. This is from Brookhaven, right across the county line from Buckhead. Brookhaven has a MARTA station, too.

“BROOKHAVEN, Ga. — The Atlanta Police Department has released a sketch of the suspect in the robbery and shooting outside a country club in Brookhaven Saturday night…The shooting happened on July 9 when, police said, Christian Broder, his brother and two other guests were waiting for an Uber at the corner of West Brookhaven Drive and Capital City Lane. The group was attending a wedding reception at Capital City Club.”

Christian Broder died, BTW. Seceding from Atlanta will not solve your problem, Buckhead. The cancer has metastasized.
