Woman Frisked, Jailed — for Not Renewing Dog License

wtf are you serious?

TeaParty.org-

(CBS News) – A western Michigan woman heads to court Tuesday after being arrested for failing to renew her dog’s license.

Becky Rehr says she drove to the Kalamazoo County sheriff’s office June 23 to prove that she’s recently renewed the license for the family’s 11-year-old dog, Dexter. Rehr’s 14-year-old daughter waited in the car as her mother was arrested, fingerprinted and held for three hours, The Kalamazoo Gazette said.

“They frisked me and put me in this intake cell with all these inmates in orange jumpsuits,” Rehr said. “I was pretty nervous.”

  1. …but, if you’re a criminal illegal alien, arrested 47-times, jailed repeatedly, on parole in three states, with a propensity for violence, we turn you loose with a wink and a nod. You’re just here trying to make a living.

Rapidly becoming the DDR is 3… 2… 1…

  2. Too many ridiculous laws on the books everywhere. 90 days for not buying a $10 dog tag? These ridiculous fines are designed to get more taxpayer money that they can then spend and waste.

Seems to me that we need people in office who will go through all the laws on the books where they are elected and clean them out.

  3. We only need an actual license from the county if taking the dogs to a county facility that caters to dogs, the only one being the off-leash dog parks. If you don’t have a license for this, and get caught by the county it’s a crazy fine, I’d rather get caught overlimit with small off season fish. If the dog doesn’t have an up-to-date rabies shot and gets picked up by the county as a lost/stray dog it’s pretty much right to the pound and dead in 2-3 days. If they can prove whose dog it was, and that same person commits the same offence 3 times within 2 years it’s a year in jail and $1000 fine. Don’t be losing your dogs around here.

  4. When are they going to license people? Oops, I better not be giving them any ideas. We’re already there but we could care less as long as we’re not bothered or have to think about it. APATHY is thy name but hey the Spew (or whatever lofo crap is on that they watch) is on, hotdog

  5. I’m a tax-paying American, born in America, of American born parents, and theirs before them, and before again, and again. I HAVE to show my license when I vote.

Too bad I’m not a southern border-crosser. I could just go get my free shit and vote several times on election day.

  6. They already do. It’s called a Social Security number. I’m old enough that my card says, “Not to be used for identification purposes”.

I also remember when we engraved our Social Security number on tools, appliances… anything we’d want identified if stolen and pawned.

  7. In case you are not aware of it, you are already licensed. You get your ID tag number (SSN) at birth, and you pay the license fee every April 15. You also pay for the people who have had their license fees waived for some reason
    or another, of course.

  8. I still have all 6 years of college work packed away because every single piece of paper has my SSN on it, and I’ve not found the time in the past couple decades to shred it all.

  9. Lol, only in progressivestan I guess. My vet actually makes fun of making my dogs “legal,” he says rabies shots are just an excuse to pay $5 for a cheap aluminum tag that costs about $0.03 to make.

  10. the number of times I see stories like this were law enforcement gets it’s panties in a knot over silly ass paperwork just makes my blood boil. There is a limited amount of manpower to go around, and it could be far better utilized protecting citizens from true criminals by bringing them to justice. issuing tickets for expired paperwork that would be better off eliminate all together should never be a priority

  11. The irony here is that the police don’t have access to Social Security records, so they don’t know who to return stolen property to if they do recover it. Engrave your driver’s license number (with 2-character slate prefix) instead. They can check that in minutes and have both your name and address, providing you have kept your information current.
I got this tip from a former cop.

  12. I’d had enough when Reno murdered all those people in Waco with impunity. I’d had enough when Randy Weaver’s wife got shot in the face and killed while holding her baby. I’d had enough when that puke Carter allowed the Iranians to take over our Embassy with impunity. I’d had enough when 241 Marines, Sailors, and Soldiers were killed in Beirut with impunity.

  13. They put her in jail with the orange menace? Why didn’t they just look for her check number or cc number if she said she already paid it?

PS. Where I lived in CA a few years ago, they wanted $100 for a dog license. Every year.
