AG Sessions Directs DOJ to ‘Increase Prosecutions of Gun-Law Violations’

Breitbart: Attorney General Jeff Sessions directed the Department of Justice (DOJ) on Monday to “increase prosecutions of gun-law violations” so that suspects know they will pay a price for using guns in crime.

He also redirected the DOJ to take a harder stance against “violent crime” in general.

According to the Wall Street Journal (WSJ), Sessions said “state and local people” with whom he has spoken have already expressed concern “about a lack of federal support and leadership.”

Sessions spoke of his support for “a 1990s-era effort that sought harsh sentences for felons caught with firearms as a way to reduce violent crime through increased gun prosecutions.” He said of offenders who use guns, “If they know they will get popped, they go into federal court and get five years. … It does have an intimidating effect, and we’ve lost a little bit of that.”  read more

  1. Prosecute all crime, why did we back off? Oh yeah, because we had a fake President, a couple laughable AGs, and a Press that buried real news constantly (including Press Secretaries that took ridiculous to hyperbolic levels).

IMO, the entire “Russian election hacking’ nothing sandwich is the grand distraction squirrel to make all forget that Hillary broke multiple secrecy LAWS and the Comey’s head is covered in kaka from inserting it up his own ass repeatedly for an entire election cycle.

Will Americans ever get to see the IRS frogmarched in handcuffs?!

  2. As Democrats talk about “common sense gun laws” over 98% of criminals face no Federal gun charges.

Put another way, “We don’t need MORE gun laws – we just need to enforce EXISTING gun laws.”

All “common sense gun laws” means is “let’s eviscerate the Second Amendment and disarm law-abiding citizens under the pretext of denying guns to criminals”.

    Fu*k The Left!!!

  3. That is just dog-whistle racism! You just know that most of this will be against black people!. Why not go after all the whites who engage in gang violence the same numbers blacks do? Hmmmm?

Coming to think of it, if the PC term is “African-American,” and it is racist to say people are “black,” then why is it “Black Lives Matter?”

You can start with the asshole, oath breaking politicians in CA, NY, and CT…..and others.

The only “common-sense” gun law ever created was the codification of the 2nd Amendment – everything else IS an INFRINGEMENT.

  5. I’ve got a bad feeling about this…

There are some terrible gun laws on the books. I do hope I don’t see any FFLs tossed in the feddle pen for paperwork errors. I also can’t abide by the fiction that all felonies are justification for a lifetime prohibition on even touching a firearm, much less owning one. Not to defend, say, embezzlers (embezzling is bad, m’kay?) but that is a quintessentially non-violent crime. Why should an embezzler who’s done his time and been released be guilty of yet another felony if he picks up firearm?

As for increasing prosecutions on gun law violations, ya gotta see that there are bad gun laws.
