US President Joe Biden said he is not yet ready for direct interaction with Russian leader Vladimir Putin, as there are currently no compelling reasons for this. He said this on July 11 at a press conference following the NATO summit that ended in Washington.
“I don’t have a compelling reason to talk to Putin right now. I’m not prepared to talk to Putin until he changes his behavior,” Biden said in a speech broadcast on the White House YouTube channel.
At the same time, the US President noted that he is ready to talk with any world leader: if Vladimir Putin called him and “expressed a desire to talk,” he would agree.
Biden also said that the last time he spoke with the Russian leader, they discussed nuclear arms control in space. He did not give a date for that conversation. more
